Spider-Man: Miles Moralesgives players control of a new Spider-Man as he fights to protect Harlem. If there’s been any major criticism of the game, it’s that it’s on the shorter end of the stick, and that’s mostly because a lot of people would be completely happy withDLC forSpider-Man: Miles Morales. Many can’t likely forget the confusion when it was revealed regarding whether it was DLC or a standalone game, and with that now obviously and definitively answered, the question becomes if it’ll get its own DLC.

After all, the originalSpider-ManPS4 got a short stint in theCity That Never Sleeps DLCthat added in a few touch stones for fans of the franchise. It stands to reason thatSpider-Man: Miles Moraleswould the same treatment; however, there’s not much to go on on how possible it is.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales DLC Seems Unlikely…

Namely, Insomniac Games has not commented one way or another on ifSpider-Man: Miles Moraleswould receive any DLC. The game is still practically brand new, though, and while many have beaten it and are clamoring for more, there’s still time for Insomniac Games to come in with an announcement. However, there is one major indication that it may not receive DLC: the originalSpider-Man’s aforementioned DLC was announced with a release date prior to the actual release of the game.

If this were to be any indication of a pattern, that meansSpider-Man: Miles Morales' DLC would have already been announced. It’s still possible there’s some story DLC coming, it’s possible that it’s just a few free post-launch updates, but ultimately, it seems unlikely. After all, the base game is rather short too, meaning any added on content may not be as well-received as the game itself.

But There is a Silver Lining in Spider-Man 2

Insomniac Games is a busy beaver, as it’s also working onRatchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and there’s likely a couple of other projects not known to the public. With that in mind, it’s possible thatSpider-Man 2is already into some stage of development.Spider-Man: Miles Moralesis a short jauntto get the IP on new platforms as a PS5 seller, which it absolutely does well. But because it’s likely that some of the mechanics could be re-used in the next game, it’s possible that skipping DLC here means the next entry in the franchise hits sooner.

Miles Morales will likely play a big part; in fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if Peter Parker and Miles Morales weredual protagonists, not unlikeAssassin’s Creed Syndicate. It’s the best way to honor this character, and if this proves to be the case, DLC is little to sacrifice for a full blown game with two Webheads.

Spider-Man: Miles Moralesis out now on PS4 and PS5.
