After months of waiting, Telltale Games has finally unveiled an official trailer for the long-anticipatedThe Wolf Among Us 2.The beloved and recently revived publisher has finally been able to showcase the game properly through this trailer, with fans now searching for every bit of detail they can find about the sequel.
Considering the original game came out almost a decade ago, many fans will likely have to re-familiarize themselves with the finer points of the game’s story in time forThe Wolf Among Us 2. Thankfully, the action packed trailer provides fans with more than just an establishing shot and a title card, as many key plot elements both old and new on display.

A Refresher on the World of The Wolf Among Us
A classic adventure game fromthe iconic era of Telltale Games' interactive and episodic releases,The Wolf Among Usis set in 1980s New York. More specifically, it takes place in a hidden community of fairytale characters known as Fable Town, which is hiding within New York. In this secretive society, the player takes control of the grizzly Bigby Wolf, the Sheriff of Fable Town.
Bigby Wolf, being the Big Bad Wolf of fairytale lore, is a reformed yet still troubled figure, taking serious and sustained restraint to remain in his human form. Being the keeper of order amongst the fairytale beings of Fable Town, Bigby often finds himself in precarious and violent situations which inadvertently revert him to his ruthless and imposing wolf form, much to the behest ofBigby. Because of the nature of Bigby’s job and his menacing true form, he has developed quite an enigmatic stigma amongst the other fairytale beings, which only serves to make his job more difficult.
In the first game, players investigate a spate of murderswithin Fable Town alongside supporting character Snow White, which eventually implicate Ichabod Crane, the mayor of Fable Town, and exposes the corruption within the power system of the town.
What The New Wolf Among Us 2 Trailer Reveals
With the trailer forThe Wolf Among Us 2now released, fans will immediately learn from the first line of dialogue in the trailer that Bigby is no longer the sheriff of Fable Town, with him now being a private investigator instead. The trailer consists of Bigby uncharacteristically recalling the events of a job gone wrong in a support group circle, in which he tracks down a person of interest to a seedy motel room.
Having broken into the room, Bigby immediately makes his presence known to two suspects, flashing a set of handcuffs at them in a predictably headstrong manner. The two suspects appear to be characters from The Wizard of Oz, with the Tin Man embodying a large metallic brute-like figure, and the Scarecrow taking a hit from a bong whilst sat on the couch. If fans can infer anything from this sequel, it is that the same delectably dark adaptations of beloved children’s characters will absolutely be on display once again. Additionally, this lends validity torumors thatThe Wolf Among Us 2would feature mainly new fables.
Violence inevitably ensues, with Bigby lighting the Scarecrow on fire with the kitchen stove and the Tin Man throwing Bigby through the motel room wall. In the shadow of night that is visible through the newly created hole in the wall, Bigby rises in his wolf form, with his glowing eyes standing out from the surrounding darkness. As this imagery appears on-screen, the support group leader fittingly asks “how does the anger manifest itself?” While this is happening, a woman is also sat in the motel room, being deadpan to the violence around her yet letting out a mysterious wry smile upon seeing Bigby’s frightening true form.
From what can be inferred from this short yet impactful trailer, gamers can expect to find themselves embroiled in the same mysteries and tense situations as the first game, with the subject of Bigby’s identity-conflict and anger management once again being at the forefront of happenings. Now being a private investigator, the shackles are even further removed for the protagonist, with more brutality to surely be expected by eagerly-awaiting fans. With thetumultuous recent history of Telltale Games,the entire gaming industry is surely united in hoping its return to development and publishing is a successful one.
The Wolf Among Us 2is set for a 2023 release date on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox X/S and the Epic Games Store.
