Anyone who has played through a few hours or more ofThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimhas likely experienced a glitch or two. WhileSkyrimis a beloved classic of the gaming community, like other Bethesda open world games, it definitely has its fair share of bugs, glitches, and general oddities.
Some of these bugs can have major impacts on gameplay, like theDawnbreaker duplication glitch, while others are harmless and just funny to watch. One such example is of a Khajiit contentedly swimming in a very odd place.

Redditor WWE-Fan_1999 shared a video of a Khajiit, theplayable race of cat people ofThe Elder Scrolls, performing the swimming animation. The weird thing here is that the Khajiit is floating in mid-air over the ground. It’s unclear where the Khajiit came from, and if it ever returned to the water, though the user joked in their post that the water was just behind the Khajiit. Even in a game with bugs that lead to Giants riding Dragons at random, it’s definitely a peculiar sight to see.
Thankfully, this particular glitch shouldn’t have any negative impact on the game, except for breaking immersion. It seems as though the game simply didn’t recognize what kind of terrain the Khajiit was moving on, and incorrectly assigned a swimming animation instead of a normal walking one. While it’s a bit weird, it’s not the strangest thing inSkyrim, and some players have probably seen glitches like these during their time in the game world.
With that being said, while these bugs were more or less expected ofThe Elder ScrollsandFalloutgames, hopes are high that the situation has improved going forward. Bethesda is prepping to releaseStarfield, which will take players on a new adventure in space. While arguably no open world game has ever been glitch-free, fans are hoping that it andThe Elder Scrolls 6will be a more stable experience.
Of course, if there are problems withStarfieldorThe Elder Scrolls 6, chances are that fans will step in to help. The modding scene for Bethesda’s games has been massive for many years, and while many ofSkyrim’s mods are designed to significantly change appearances, gameplay, or NPC behaviors in some way, others are simply there to make the gameplay experience smoother or to fix outstanding bugs. Of course, not every bug is necessarily a detriment to players.Skyrimfans learned early on following its initial release that players could steal from NPCs simply by obscuring their vision, doing things like putting buckets over their heads.Elder Scrollsfans will just have to wait and see what oddities will appear inElder Scrolls 6.
