With the lack of attention boxing has received in video games ever since EA’sFight Night Championin 2011, Steel City Interactive has blessed fans with a new promising boxing game inUndisputed. While it has only recently just become available to PC players on Steam only, there are a plethora of fans who have been impressed with what the title has had to offer so far.

Despite no release date for the full game being revealed for both PC and consoles, the high level of anticipation still remains among boxing fanatics as many expect the new title to fill the void that has been missing in video games with the absence of the boxing genre.
5Press Conferences
As EA’sUFCtitles and their career modes have evolved over the years in the franchise to introduce cutscenes and mini segments that provide that realistic pre-match buildup, it would be a no-brainer forUndisputedto implement. Based onSteel City Interactive’s clear goals to create a realistic and authentic experiencewith their title, a career mode that contains features such as press conferences that increase fight hype or increase sales in the lead-up to bouts with other fighters will certainly help to achieve that goal.
While it may be difficult to work around considering the high likelihood of character voices or voice lines being included in the game among all of its modes, it would be a very suitable addition and would take the game’s career mode to another level.
4Weigh-Ins
One of the more pivotal aspects ofUndisputed’s career mode is the implementation of weigh-ins that coincide with the aforementioned press conferences, to fully capture a boxing lifestyle. How this could actually play out in career mode is yet to be seen, but the options and opportunities are most certainly there and available for developers to work from.

Examples of such systems are present in EA’sFIFA 23, which allows players to tailor both their personality traits and their skill level alongside it in the game’s player career mode. While this may not be the exact same in regard to a boxing game, the foundation is there to be worked from. Giving players the freedom to make their own weight before fights, and also change weight classes just as real fighters do in real life, is pivotal to the career mode’s potential for success.
3Realistic Training Camps
Whilst mini-games are definitely aspects within sports games most fans enjoy and wish to see maintained; developers have the opportunity to implement a full-fledged training mode forUndisputed. The maintenance of fun and interactive mini-games such as manual weight lifting in theFight Nightfranchise, along with the addition of genuine sparring drills for endurance or learning new move sets, would suffice.
Considering the fact that the game is still within its early access state with career mode yet to arrive, developers have the opportunity to implement features as such along with new updates ultimately leading up to the game’s full and final release.
2Personality System/Social Media
Given EA’s heavy focus on sports titles for over a decade, titles such asFIFAand its ‘The Journey’ mode, along withUFC 4’s career mode, have all featured a social media and personality system that can change depending on how the player performs. Despite this sometimes becoming monotonous when seeing some of the same repeated tweets or ones that do not correctly reflect the player’s current form, Steel City Interactive can further build on top of this foundation and double down on the successes of games that are similar.
Not only would this give players a greater insight to see the different outcomes or results based on their actions, but it would also open up the game’s career mode to the aspect of fan opinion within the game. It would help the title avoid maintaining a feel that only focuses on fighters and fights alone, serving as a greater reason for players to progress.
1Face Scan/Custom Game Face
The implementation of allowing players to use their own faces within character creation would be the icing on the cake for many fans. Earlywithin the game’s initial reveal, fans gained an insight into what they could expect in terms of the game’s character creation and most especially for its career mode. While there was no indication of custom faces being available to use at the time, there are chances that this could change once career mode becomes available, or further down the road in the full release.
This would be heavily dependent on the game’s engine and the capabilities of facial animations and expressions, and whether this could be replicated with real faces aside from the fighters already present in the game. Out of all of the heavily required inclusions for career mode inUndisputed, the prospect of players being able to use their own faces on their created character would be a huge selling point. In light of this not being created by developers, modders are also in the equation.
