InTriangle Strategy, players take control of a young Lord who is going through some big life changes. During the opening hours of the game, players are forced to make what seems like an important decision. While some may have already made this choice whenplaying theTriangle Strategydemo, those who haven’t might need some advice.

The Story of Triangle Strategy

The story up until this point has been primarily world-building through character interactions. Players have learned that there are three main kingdoms, and each has been at war with the other a lot. While there is a lot of bad blood between the countries, they are trying hard to come together peacefully.

To this end, a young lady namedFrederica from Aesfrostis sent to marry Lord Serenoa of one of the biggest houses in Glenbrook. This union is meant to foster peace between the countries. As their first act as a betrothed couple together, they are asked to head a diplomatic mission to one of the other two countries.Players can choose to head to Aesfrost or scope out Hyzante.

Aesfrost in Triangle Strategy

Iftactical JRPG playerschoose to head to Aesfrost, they will find a land covered in snow. However, this icy mountain range is far from barren, as the ranges of Aesfrost are rich with iron ore. This metal has been invaluable to the building of the country, allowing it to become a rival for either of the other two countries. If players choose to visit this place, they will get to meet their betrothed’s family members and see where she grew up. They will also be able to recruit an Aesfrost smuggler.

Rudolph Mueller is a ranged DPS that comes loaded with quick feet, a steady aim, and traps to slow enemies trailing him. While he has been arrested for smuggling salt, he attempts to be pardoned for his crimes by helping out the police to ferret out a dangerous underground salt ring.

Hyzante in Triangle Strategy

The other option thatTriangle Strategyplayers can choose is Hyzante. This desert country is as hot as Aesfrost is cold, and both Frederica and Serenoa will be strangers to this land. Hyzante is run by a central religion, and this religion is based around the blessings of their goddess in the form of salt.

This is the only country where salt is found, and the other two must purchase it from the source at high prices. If players choose to come here instead, they will recruit an ice mage named Corentin Jennar. This wizard is powerful and a great counter to the Pyromancer already in the party.

Choosing Between Aesfrost and Hyzante

So when playersplayTriangle Strategyfor the first time, which should players choose?

In all honesty, this choice doesn’t matter much at all. Players should choose based on which recruit they want first or which story they are more interested in hearing. Both recruits eventually become available regardless of which route a player goes in. Since a lot of story is missed no matter how Serenoa chooses, players should really play through both if they get a chance.

While this choice not mattering might seem disappointing to JRPG fans, they shouldn’t worry. This decision is more of a tutorial for the choice-making system than something necessary to the plot. Later, several decisions will matter a lot more, which is one of the manyfeatures fans were hoping for inTriangle Strategy.
