TheTotal Warfranchise has allowed players to control epic battles, commanding anything from medieval knights to roman legionnaires. However,Total War Warhammerhas proven to perhaps be the most popular series as it combined the popular setting ofWarhammer Fantasywith the in-depth mechanicsTotal Warfans will be used to. As of 2022,Total War Warhammer 2is the best-sellingTotal Wartitle. Even withTotal War Warhammerbeing so popular, fans found the third game in the series to be somewhat lackluster.

While there were plenty of things to like aboutTotal War Warhammer 3, there were also multiple problems with the game. Bugs sometimes caused the game to crash when loading into battles, and some factions such as the Ogre Kingdoms had units that were vastly over performing in comparison to their price point. There have beenhotfixes released forTotal War Warhammer 3that have fixed the game’s major problems, but fans have still found plenty of things that the latest entry in the franchise feels like it’s missing.

Patch 1.2 is the second attempt at makingTotal War Warhammer 3a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It brings balance changes to the Auto-Resolve formula, meaning that it will now assess battles based on the Battle difficulty of a game and not its Campaign difficulty. The AI will also no longer seek to destroy the player as a major priority, meaning that if someone is playing theSeducers of Slaanesh factionway off in the Chaos Wastes, a random Western Provinces army won’t show up after trekking through miles upon miles of hostile territory. There’s also a big buff to Greater Daemons, which allows them to cast spells without eating into the magic pool of an army.

Moreover, there will be some changes to Legendary Lord skill points, making it so that the player automatically unlocks mounts, letting them spend points on other upgrades. Among plenty of otherfixes forTotal War Warhammer 3, patch 1.2 also brings about the first Regiments of Renown. Patch 1.2 gives each faction is receiving a Regiment of Renown, which is essentially a buffed version of an existing unit in a faction’s roster. The specific Regiments of Renown and all patch notes can be readhere.

Each Regiment of Renown inTotal War Warhammer 3is focused on melee infantry. Regiments of Renown in previous games have made up for some of thestrongest melee units inTotal War Warhammer, so for factions like Khorne that relish having a strong front line, these will be perfect additions to the roster. Patch 1.2 is part of Creative Assembly’s roadmap to improveTotal War Warhammer 3in the months following its release. Soon, fans will get a look at the “Immortal Empires” beta, which combines the map and factions from all threeTotal War Warhammergames.
