Last month,The Mandalorian’sPedro Pascal was cast to play Joel Miller in HBO’s series adaption ofThe Last Of Us.Now, a recent piece of fan art that imagines Pascal as Miller got the attention of the creator of the video game franchise.

The upcoming series is based on Neil Druckmann’s popular 2013 Sony PlayStation video game.The Last of Us Part IIwas released last June and sold over four million copies worldwide in just three days. It was awarded game of the year and ended up breaking numerous PlayStation grossing records.

Written by Druckmann andChernobylcreator Craig Mazin,The Last of Usseries will followPascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s14-year-old Ellie as they journey across the United States following the collapse of modern society. The two characters are forced to depend on each other for survival as they travel out of an oppressive quarantine zone. Of course, beyond the quarantine zone lies the threat of cannibalistic humans and creatures infected by a mutated fungus. Russian filmmaker Kantemir Balagov was tapped to direct the first episode.

Danish freelance artist Julie Damgaard posted a drawing of what she thoughtPascal would look like as Joel. Neil Druckmann not only retweeted her drawing, but he also called the hyper-realistic portrait “rad." The 22-year-old artist stated on Twitter that she drew the viral fan art from scratch. Damgaard has posted over 500 drawings on her popular Instagram account.

Despite never appearing on screen together, Pascal and Ramsey both had fan-favorite roles onGame Thrones. Pascal was last seen inWonder Woman 1984andthe second season of the hitDisney Plus seriesThe Mandalorian.Deadlinereported that the 45-year-old star would continue on theStar Warsseries, but will be used sparingly since his character frequently wears a helmet. Meanwhile,Ramsey recently appeared in six episodes ofHis Dark Materialsand the filmJudy. HBO has not stated whenThe Last Of Uswill be released.PlayStation boss Jim Ryan recently noted that the series hasn’t started filming.

Druckmann’s other popular video game franchise,Uncharted, is notably being adapted for the big screen. Directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom),Unchartedstars Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Drake’s mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan. The film is a prequel to the video game series and will center on a younger version of the titular character. Holland recently made news forcomparingUnchartedtoIndiana JonesandJames Bond. After being stuck in development for over a decade,Unchartedis expected to be released on August 09, 2025.
