The Flashdoes not waste time to get going. It opens with a fight scene in Gotham wherein The Flash zips in to help Batman stop a heist. This leads to The Flash saving a bunch of babies with one of the wildest rescue scenes in a superhero movie yet.

After that, the speedy hero realizes he can time travel with his skills, which leads him to a multiverse trip through time and space. That’s the basic setup toThe Flash, but there is so much more to say on things that didn’t make sense along with plot threads left dangling.
Warning! Spoilers ahead.
8Where Are All The Flashes?
DC is finally falling in linewith the MCUby introducing a multiverse into their movies. This is a movie about The Flash, but it strangely features more DC heroes than multiverse representations of the iconic hero.
There is the main version of The Flash, his alter ego in the other timeline as well as The Dark Flash. There are two Batman characters, not counting three Bruce Waynes, showcased in the movie along with at least five iterations of Superman if not more. It seems weird that Superman overtakes this movie by a large margin.
7How Time Travel And Multiverses Work
There are multiple answers given as to how the multiverses and time travel works in the movie. Michael Keaton’s version of Batman explains that the multiverse is layered on top of each other with overlapping intersections instead of there being split timelines based on choices.
With that explanation at hand, how could Barry switching the can of tomatoes at the store make Bruce Wayne appear differently if presumably Bruce Wayne was already born? He is played by George Clooney instead of Ben Affleck at the end, which is a nod toBatman and Robin. Did Barry go into another dimension by mistake?
6Wonder Woman’s Appearance
Wonder Woman popping in seems about as random as her appearance inShazam! Fury of the Gods. At the end of that movie, she comes in to save Billy from being dead. In The Flash, Wonder Woman saves Batman and a villain from falling into the water.

After this daring rescue, she peaces out. Granted, at this point the battle was over so she could go. Where was she before this and where was the rush afterward?
5Why Did Barry Lose His Powers?
Like most superheroeswith powers, The Flash has an origins story that dates back to the comics. In the film universe specifically, he was working in a lab one day when lighting came through the window. This struck chemicals, dousing Barry in them, and the bolt also struck his body. When Barry goes into the other universe, he explains to his younger self that he needs to get struck too.
At the moment main Barry takes the brunt of the chemicals, the bolt passes through him and into the other Barry. Why did main Barry lose his powers and how did the other one gain them if the chemicals were mostly shielded?
4What Villains Did Batman Fight?
In this alternate universe, it is established that it takes place withinTim Burton’s versionof Batman. Michael Keaton, at this point, plays an older version of Bruce Wayne who has retired from crime fighting as Batman. He explains that Gotham is now one of the safest cities in the world.
How did Bruce accomplish this statistic? Did he kill off all of his villains, so that they couldn’t rise up from Arkham Asylum time and time again? What villains besides The Joker, The Penguin, and Catwoman did he fight over the years?
3Why Is Michael Keaton’s Batman Universe Doomed?
The big lesson that Barry has to learn in this movie is that sometimes things are inevitable. A lesson from his mother rings in his memories that not every problem has a solution. Barry comes to the realization that no matter how many times he tries, he cannot save Batman, Supergirl, stop General Zod, or save the planet.

This alternate timeline is doomed but is it really? It’s hard to imagine that there are no solutions given the wealth of othertime travel moviesout there, but that at least makesThe Flashunique.
2Who Killed Barry’s Mom?
The DC film universe borrows a lot from the comics. For example, the overall plot of this movie can be taken from Flashpoint, one of the agreed-upon best story arcs within The Flash’s canon. However, the film universe is also its own thing, so fans cannot assume anything will be the same.
For example, there is a burning question left hanging at the end. Who killed Barry’s mother? Was it a random person or is there more to it? The answer has been answered in various ways in the comics, but again, those answers will not necessarily be the same in this movie universe.
1The Ending With Aquaman
There is one ending credits scene in the film that showcases Barry helping Arthur, aka Aquaman, out of a bar. It seems like he has not become Aquaman yet, but it seems like Barry is desperately trying to round up heroes again.
Is this going to tie intoAquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is supposed to come out by the end of 2023? Alternatively, is that movie going to be a sequel to the first movie and ignore everything Barry does inThe Flash? Is that movie ever going to actually come out is the bigger question?
