This was probably a mistake on Bethesda’s part, as it’s been five years and the game is still a long way off, with Bethesda still focused on the upcomingStarfield.The Elder Scrolls 6might not launch until 2026 or later, which is a long time for fans who have been waiting sinceSkyrim’s Dragonborn DLC was released in December 2012.
Skyrim introduced a lot of things that fans would probably like tosee paid off inThe Elder Scrolls 6. However, there is still one big plot point fromThe Elder Scrolls: Oblivionthat requires closure.Skyrimfeatured multiple references toOblivionand its DLCs, including the return ofOblivion’s interpretation of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness. However, his counterpart Jyggalag was conspicuously absent, andThe Elder Scrolls 6offers a great chance to check on the Daedric Prince of Order.

The Elder Scroll’s Forgotten Daedric Prince
The name Jyggalag first appears inThe Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall, but most fans know him as the antagonist ofOblivion’s Shivering Isles expansion. However, that’s technically not his first appearance in anElder Scrollsgame. As players learned during the events of The Shivering Isles,Sheogorath and Jyggalag were technically the same being. At the end of every Era, Sheogorath transforms into Jyggalag and conquers the Shivering Isles in the name of order. He then changes back into Sheogorath and rebuilds his realm of madness.
This cycle is not a natural part of Jyggalag’s existence. Instead, it’s the result of a curse the other Daedric Princes placed on him. Long ago, Jyggalag was one of the most powerful lords of Oblivion. His realm was one of perfect order, and it grew larger with each passing era. Fearful of his power, the other Daedric Princes cursed him, turning him into Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness.
The protagonist ofThe Elder Scrolls: Oblivionfinally breaks the cycle bydefeating Jyggalag at the end of the Shivering Isles DLC. They become the new Sheogorath, while Jyggalag is free to roam Oblivion once more.Skyrimacknowledges this as canon, but the game had no mention of Jyggalag, which might leave some fans wondering what the Prince of Order has been up to over the last 200 years.
Jyggalag’s Role in TES6
Jyggalag probably isn’t going to launch an all-out invasion of Hammerfell inThe Elder Scrolls 6. Even if he had the power, which is doubtful, it would just be a rehash ofOblivionand The Shivering Isles. Still, it would be odd if he didn’t get his own quest and Daedric Artifact in theElder Scrolls 6.
Tamriel is a chaotic place, only worsening with the Empire’s decline. Hammerfell, in particular, is a land of numerous petty kingdoms constantly vying for power. It wouldn’t be surprising if some people living in chaotic times might turn to worship the Daedric Prince of Order. However, sinceJyggalag’s version of order isn’t necessarily good, this could create some interesting conflict where his version of perfect order conflicts with human free will.
Alternatively, Jyggalag’s quest in theElder Scrolls 6might involve conflict with one of the other Daedric Princes.Asura’s and Clavicus Vile’s quests inSkyrimhad multiple endings with different rewards. TES6 could do something similar, having players start another Daedric Quest, only for Jyggalag to involve himself part-way through. It also wouldn’t be out of character for Sheogorath to play a few pranks on his predecessor.The Elder Scrollsdoesn’t have many examples of Daedric Princes directly interacting, and Jyggalag offers an excellent opportunity to do just that.
