Powers shouldn’t define a character, and that’s one of the biggest crutches of people like Homelander, who rule with fear and intimidation for their potential inThe Boysuniverse. Yet, there are some characters that deserve or demand respect without the use of powers or compound V flowing in their veins, and those characters certainly leave strong impressions.
The Boyshas a brilliant cast of interesting characters, and even those without memorable superpowers are often remembered for their cunning, kindness, and cruelty. Not everyone inThe Boysis evil, and not everyone can shoot lasers from their eyes.
7The Legend
Vought’s Former Senior Vice President For Hero Management
If someone is working closely with Vought, close enough to know their dirty secrets, it’s safe to assume that they aren’t exactly a good person. The Legend knows everything about Vought, or at least he used to, since he worked for them in their golden years as the Senior Vice President of Hero Management. With this position, the Legend was able to produce superhero movies, and new hero identities, and cover up their dirty misdeeds.
Yet, when the Legend was pushed out of Vought, he became an informant, aiding the Boys in everything they need to know about theheroes that they are up against. The Legend doesn’t keep his opinion to himself, and his personality and history prove just why he’s known as the Legend.
6Robert Singer
President-Elect Who Hates Supes
Robert Singer has become the President-elect of the United States of America, and he’s made it clear that he openly opposes the idea of superheroes in the military and other forces where they have power they do not deserve. Robert Singer’s goals are for the betterment of humanity, and his no-nonsense approach shows that he’s the kind ofpolitician that Vought hates, but humanity needs.
Robert Singer won’t back down from Vought, and he isn’t afraid to put his hands in a few dirty pies to get what he wants. He’s aided the Boys with resources, information, and tools in an attempt to have them keep the rug clean for him to walk on, all whilst trying to ensure the assassination of his secret-supe Vice President-elect.
5Ashley Barrett
The Resilient Self-Serving Vought CEO
Ashley Barret was able to climb the corporate ladder with the removal of Madelyn Stillwell and Stan Edgar. With the two most important people in the company (outside of Homelander) out of the way, Ashley was able to take the office she always wanted. Yet, it cost her so much stress that she began pulling her own hair out like it was a therapeutic release for her to do so.
Ashley isn’t a nice person, and she has witnessed and aided in the crimes of heroes by trying to cover them up. Whilst Ashley is but a pawn inHomelander’s game of superiority, she plays her obediently serving role well enough to get by, whilst also marking her own territory with hilarious dominance over her inferiors.
4Stan Edgar
The One Man Homelander Fears
Stan Edgar was the CEO of Vought International, and a man who politicians and superheroes feared and respected for his power and intellect. Despite Stan’s knowledge of Vought, he has never given himself superpowers. This fact makes himeven more dangerous, as a powerful man like Stan Edgar believes he doesn’t need invulnerability to be invulnerable.
Stan has faced off against Homelander many times, to the point where he’s called Homelander a bad product. If that was anyone else, Homelander would have turned their head into stew, but Stan Edgar demands respect, which is something Homelander will never get from him.
3Frenchie
An Explosive Expert Running From His Past
There perhaps isn’t a criminal job that Frenchie hasn’t done. This member of the Boys might not have touched Compound V, but it’s for the best, since who’s to say what kind of mischief Frenchie would get up to with a super-powered drug coursing through his veins. Frenchie has a substance abuse issue, and a guilty conscience surrounding his past asa hired killer.
Beneath the hard exterior is a broken man, one who just wants to love and be loved. Frenchie managed to get Kimiko out of her shell, but it seems he can’t go far in life without his past coming back to haunt him, sending him down a spiraling pit that is hard to climb out of.
2Mother’s Milk
The Leader Of The Boys Protrudes Wisdom And Reason
Mother’s Milk is strong enough without the use of Compound V. Whilsthis comic counterpartmight be V’d up, Mother’s Milk from Amazon Prime’s version of the boys doesn’t need to touch the stuff to get what he wants. Whether it’s through violence or reason, M.M. will do what’s necessary for his family and his friends, and the betterment of humanity without pesky supes running amok, especially since one of them in particular murdered his family.
Marvin Milk is extremely respectable and well-liked for a reason. He always has his head screwed on, and his traditional opinions in a sticky situation make him someone to listen to if people want to get out alive without relying on the crazed antics andbloody violence of Billy Butcher.
1Hughie Campbell
Just Someone Who Wants To Save His Family
Hughie Campbell grew up idolizing superheroes. That all came to an end when A-Train ran through his girlfriend and turned her into a bloody red mist to stain his face and t-shirt. Ever since Hughie’s opinion of heroes has soured, and through the years with Billy Butcher, he has been able to protrude more confidence to the point where he has killed for the sake of thegoals of the Boys.
Despite killing before, Hughie will always do what is right and tries to keep his morals and ethics in line, even if that directly questions Butcher. Hughie will refuse and stick to his morals if he has to, and his desire to be good and save everyone he cares about can sometimes make him vulnerable and seem weak, but extremely human.
