There are plenty of survival games out there; some either have stories along with their survival gameplay, while others may just focus on the world and gameplay aspects of the video games. Sons of the Foresthas finally just been released on PC and fans of the game should never cease to stop and reminisce about the game’s beloved predecessor,The Forest.The Forestis an amazing survival game that places the player in the shoes of a father who is traveling by plane with his son, Timmy.

Unfortunately, the plane crashes onto a remote island, and upon waking up, the player can see their son being taken away by an unknown figure. Playersmust survive the islandall whilst attempting to look for their son.

9Minecraft

Minecraftis quite arguably the most popular survival game there is, with players that aren’t big fans of the genre still falling into the enjoyable gameplay loop that resides in the block-themed game.Minecraftdoesn’t have a narrative story that players can follow exactly, rather players will need to seek out all the fruitful lore there is out there intheir randomly generated world.

Once players have put as much as they can together, they can find a foggy path towards what could be the game’s story.

ARK: Survival Evolvedis easily one of the greatest survival games out there, and that is without even considering the amazing story thatARKfeatures.ARKplaces its players ontoone of many different maps,with the first one in story-order being the Island.

From the start, players can delve into the incredibly deep story thatARKhas, with hidden journals, secrets, bosses, cutscenes, and the different maps themselves. With all of that, getting through all ofARK’sstories would take hundreds upon hundreds of hours!

Players with thalassophobia, or the fear of deep water, will struggle to get through the water-themed game that isSubnautica. That is becauseSubnauticaplaces players in the place of a man who is seeking out a lost ship on an alien world during a time when humanity is currently attempting to colonize various parts of the universe.

Unfortunately for the player, they’ve been stranded on a planet pretty much entirely made up of water, meaning one deep ocean, constantly swimming, and most importantly, fighting off what lies in the deep.

6This War Of Mine

This War of Mineis quite frankly one of thegreatest survival game experiencesout there. So much so that the video game was the first in the world to be added to a school’s recommended reading list by a government.

This War of Minedoesn’t actually feature superior gameplay, rather focusing more of its content through emotion and decision-making. Players are forced to attempt to survive in different families' scenarios during a devastating war. Players can even make their own survivors as well, but the preset stories are a must-play.

InValheim, Vikings, as ferocious as they are, have been sent to the Valheim realm in order to conquer it to make the realm livable. The player plays as a Viking that has already been killed in Midgard, so now they have a brand-new chance to prove themselves against the most feared enemies in all the realms.

Green Hellis an amazing survival video game that fans ofThe Forestwill definitely fall in love with. That is said becauseGreen Hellplaces players in the boots of anthropologist Jake Higgins after he findshimself lost in the Amazon rainforest.

Not only that, but if players take on the game’s story, they will find that Jake is seeking out his wife who is also missing. Players must survive the harsh reality of the desperate jungle, and fight to save Jake’s wife who is not only just in danger, but is also very sick.

Darkwoodis certainly one of the more unique and interesting survival games out there, as the game also has a major horror aspect about it that will send shivers down anyone’s spine.Darkwoodalso has a unique setting, as the game is said to take place within the Eastern Bloc in the 1980s.

An odd forest has taken over lots of land, and people inside have fallen victim to an illness that turns them into frightful creatures. The player isput up against this forestinDarkwood, and they must find a way to escape.
