New installments ofSuper Smash Bros.have been released on nearly every major Nintendo system to launch after the N64. For several years,Masahiro Sakuraihas been the heart and soul ofSuper Smash Bros. For every game in the series, Sakurai has served as director and has been at the forefront of every major decision made in terms of the franchise as a whole. Over on Twitter, Sakurai reveals an image of an Xbox Series X he recently purchased. Some fans may find it odd that Sakurai chose to purchase a Western game console, but what many might not know is that Sakurai is an avid lover of video games in general. Back in 2019, it was revealed thatSakurai had played over 240 games on PS4and has a substantial collection of game consoles within his place of residence.

What’s fairly interesting is that Sakurai purchased an Xbox Series X almost a year after purchasing a PS5. It’s possible that due to therecord-breaking demand of the Xbox Series X, Sakurai was simply unable to purchase one. Although, it’s more likely that given how much time and effort has been put into releasing all of the additional DLC fighters forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, only now is Sakurai able to enjoy games in his spare time.

In any case, it’s nice to see Sakurai being able to enjoy himself after all of the hard work that was put intoSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. Following the release ofSora inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, many in the gaming community praised Sakurai for his diligent work on the series. Especially considering the number of logistical hurdles the studio likely had to overcome just to add Sora to the roster.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds forSuper Smash Bros.moving forward. Given that the second fighters pass will be the last one released forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, many fans have already begun to consider the prospect of a new series installment. WhileSakurai is unsure of whetherSuper Smash Bros.will continue, many are still appreciative of the content that has been released so far.
