Volume One ofStranger Thingsseason 4 is out, and it introduced a new villain, some teenagers were brutally murdered, and the Hawkins squad cracked the code of the Upside Down. Imagine throwing actor Ryan Reynolds in the midst of all the chaos. While it might sound strange, executive producer Shawn Levy would love to see the actor make a cameo in the next and final season ofStranger Things.
Apart from working tirelessly onStranger Things, Levy has recently worked on multiple projects with Reynolds. Their last project together wasNetflix’sThe Adam Project, which featured time travel and a mission to save the planet. Sounds quite familiar, asStranger Thingsalso involves the main characters going out of their way to ensure the safety of their town and the world at large. It wouldn’t be the strangest thing to see Reynolds show up at some point in the series’ timeline.

Having worked with Reynolds several times, Levy was asked during an interview withThe Hollywood Reporterabout whether he would want to see a Reynolds cameo inStranger Things. “I want to see a Ryan Reynolds cameo in anything,” Levy responded. He confessed that the “past half-decade” of his career has been “defined byStranger Thingsand [his] collaborations with Ryan.” Bringing the two together would not just mean his worlds colliding, but also an extremely “trippy but satisfying” experience for the producer. At the end of his interview, he warned Reynolds to “get ready for season five.”
While it seemed like the producer was joking about the matter, fans have expressed their excitement over seeing a possible crossover. Memes started showing up online, and fans found similarities between the series and Reynolds' films. One commonality that many pointed out was thatStranger Thingshas several references to the popular game Dungeons and Dragons, and Reynolds played a non-player character in theLevy-produced filmFree Guy. As part of the film, Reynolds' character Guy discovers that he is a part of a game and then becomes a social media hit among fans, only to anger the so-called creator who then decides to shut things down.
Reynolds and Levy will continue their camaraderie asthey work onDeadpool 3next. Levy has been brought on board to direct the film, bringing the Merc with a Mouth back on the big screen. But, for now, Levy sure hopes to have Reynolds appear on the small screen again, in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana. Time will tell if his wish comes true.
