A strange mod recently released forFallout 4has brought an extremely strange crossover, withSkyrim’s Argonians making their way to the wasteland.Fallout 4has no shortage of customization options for players, but this mod takes that idea one step further.

Over the years, there has been no shortage of utterly bizarre mods released forFallout 4. OneFallout 4mod even turns bananas into a deadly weapon, defying all laws of physics in the process. However, this recent mod may top the list. When looking at Argonians inSkyrim, they look so distinctively fantasy-based, and there’s a massive juxtaposition created when seeing them against the backdrop of a nuclear wasteland. Despite this, the existence of this mod is a great thing. Mods should be experimental and push the boundaries for what the game can do. This certainly fits under the definition of “experimental.”

The mod was posted to Reddit by user NymnWales, with an image fromFallout 4’s famous introduction. Rather than the normal protagonist and their spouse looking into the mirror, it’s two Argonians, straight from the land ofSkyrim. While the Argonian pair have the exact same features in the image, the mod itself does offer extensive customization for gamers wanting the full Argonian experience.

Players in the thread had one immediate concern - how this would affect Shaun. In the game, baby Shaun’s appearance is affected by the chosen race of the player character and their spouse. The community was extremely curious to see if theFallout 4protagonist’s babywould also become a tiny Argonian, or if it remains untouched by the mod. Unfortunately, no one in the thread had the answer, so right now it’s inconclusive.

TheFallout 4modding sceneremains extremely strong. BehindSkyrim, it has the second most-active modding community on PC at the moment, with over 48,000 mods released for the game on Nexus Mods. Gamers are keeping the game alive in the absence ofFallout 5, which has still yet to be officially announced by Bethesda. While the game has been mentioned in brief passing by Todd Howard in interviews over the years, there’s still no indication as to when it will finally make its way into the hands of gamers. It’s lucky thatFallout 4mods are as versatile as they are. This means that the game could stay alive for many years to come yet, until the sequel eventually releases.

Fallout 4is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming in 2023.
