Summary
One cleverStarfieldplayer is storming the cosmos in a near-perfect replica of the dreaded Vulture Droids ofStar Warsfame. Bethesda’s latest blockbuster RPG lets players explore the far reaches of space however they see fit thanks to both its open-world format and its surprisingly deep assortment of character and spaceship customization tools. By letting players craft their own custom vessels to travel to nearly 1,000 pre-generated planets,Starfieldhas opened the door to countless imaginative tributesto famous games, movies, and television shows.
One of the biggest and most fitting sources of these tributes isStar Wars, withStarfieldplayers crafting spot-on recreations of some of the most famous ships to ever grace the large or small screen. These include iconicStar Warsmovie ships like Han Solo’s legendary Millenium Falcon andObi-Wan Kenobi’s signature Jedi Starfighter, as well as popular vessels fromStar Wars’many video games like the Ebon Hawk fromKnights of the Old Republicand the Stinger Mantis from this year’sStar Wars Jedi: Survivor. Even more villainous spacecraft like Boba Fett’s Firespray-31 and Darth Maul’s Scimitar have been represented by talentedStarfieldplayers.
These fans can now add the infamous Vulture Droid Mk1 spaceship from theStar Warsprequel era to the list of famous vessels built inStarfield, thanks to the work of Reddit user Avergence. They posted a pair of screenshots depicting their creation on theStarfieldsubreddit, wowing other users with how they managed to capture the signature starfighter of the villainous Trade Federation with only a few minor changes for mobility purposes. Some users point out that Avergence’s build sacrifices performance for the sake of design, but Avergence admits that it wasn’t made with stats in mind.
The Vulture Droid Mk1 starship first flew onto the silver screen inStar Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menaceand would go on to be one of the Separatist Army’s most noted spacecraft duringthe Clone Wars. As such,Star Warsgamers have blasted them out of the sky aplenty in titles likeStar Wars Battlefront 2andLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, though these titles also allow players to enforce the will of the Trade Federation from behind the cockpits of these self-piloting starfighters.
Sadly, Avergence won’t be able to recreate the Vulture Droid’s trademark ability to shift into a walker mode for combat on land, but other than that they have done a fine job in replicating its menacing design usingStarfield’s spaceship customization suite. Fans havebrought elements ofStar WarsintoStarfieldthanks to both custom ships and Imperial Stormtrooper-themed character mods, and the sky truly seems to be the limit to what players can do in Bethesda’s most recent success story.
Starfieldis available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
