Nintendo’s cloud services have been used in the past to bring games to the Switch that would otherwise not be playable on the console due to its limited power. Mileage may vary when it comes to how well the game will run as aNintendo Switch cloud gaming title, so those who want the highest-qualityThymesiaexperience will likely want to stick with the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X versions of the game. Still, it’s better than nothing, as otherwiseThymesiawouldn’t be playable on the Switch at all.
For those unfamiliar with the game,Thymesiaappears to be a Soulslike through-and-through, with a particular focus on combat.Thymesiahas been most often compared toBloodborne, a FromSoftware-developed Soulslike that supports a more-aggressive approach to combat than theDark Soulsseries of games. How exactlyThymesiastacks up to those titles remains to be seen, but fans don’t have to wait much longer to find out.
Originally, theThymesiarelease datewas scheduled for August 9, but it was delayed to August 18. Some may be disappointed that they have to wait an extra week to playThymesiafor themselves, but this will in turn ensure that the game is more polished and hopefully better live up to the lofty expectations set by its inspirations.
Thymesia’s story sees players take on the role of Corvus, who mustexplore the Kingdom of Hermes, currently suffering from a plague. The jury is still out on whetherThymesiacan carve out an identity of its own or not, but fans will find out when the game launches next week.
