The launch of Sony’s PlayStation 5 is drawing closer, but gamers are still waiting on a price point and official release date. The console is set to release in Holiday 2020 and Sony has revealed a slate ofupcoming games for the PS5that has definitely gotten player’s excited about the next-gen console.
Sony’s Future of Gaming event in June showed off plenty of new games for the PS5,includingGodfall, GhostWire: TokyoandRatchet and Clank: Rift Apart. So far there is only one game confirmed to be an exclusive launch title for the PlayStation 5, that beingSpider-Man: Miles Morales. While backward compatibility is expected for some games on the PS5, there’s still plenty of question around what other titles will be available at launch for the new console.

Japanese video game news site Gematsu has uncovered thatDemon’s Soulson PS5 was rated in Korea on August 13. The only other PS5 game currently rated in Korea isSpider-Man: Miles Morales, which is one of the other expected launch titles for the PS5. The timing suggests thatDemon’s Soulswill also release alongside the PlayStation 5.
It is possible thatDemon’s Soulsis just the firstof many other PS5 games currently being rated for release, which doesn’t necessarily mean it will be released at the same time as the new console. But the fact thatDemon’s Soulshas been rated does indicate that its development is far enough down the line that it can be sent to classifiers. This could mean it will be ready in time for the Holiday 2020 release window.
Demon’s Soulsis a complete remakeof the original PS3 classic and the game is seemingly taking advantage of all the next-gen power the PlayStation 5 has to offer.Demon’s Soulswill offer players a choice of using the PS5’s power to optimize frame rate or graphics, providing a different visual gameplay experience depending on a player’s preferences.
Launch titles can be a huge influencing factor for a new console’s release. One of the biggest selling points for the Xbox Series X was thatHalo Infinitewould be released as a launch title. However,Halo Infinitewas recently delayedto 2021, meaning many Xbox fans may choose to hold off on buying the new console until its headlining game is released.
Some of the announced PS5 games such asHorizon Forbidden WestandDeathloophave also been pushed to 2021release dates, leaving plenty of open slots for launch titles. But launching withSpider-Man: Miles Moralesand potentiallyDemon’s Soulsto start is still a solid lineup to entice players into purchasing the PS5 on release.
