In the Sights, Sounds, and Speed update, players can expect a “Juke Box” Sound Test, Photo Mode, and a few new “Challenge Modes.” These Challenge Modes feature a timedBoss Rush against the titansand guardians, and an overall race through all the game’s Cyber Space stages. The Juke Box involves fans racing along the Starfall Islands to collect “Sound Memories” of 53 differentSonicsongs from the series' expansive history.
Prior to the DLC announcement, fans had been lamenting the lack of a Boss Rush and aPhoto Mode inSonic Frontiers. Now, these features will be in the game within a few days. Depending on how well this update serves to strengthenFrontiers’experience, this update may be a short and sweet way to tide fans over to the next wave of content.
While many fans are excited to see that the Sights, Sounds, and Speed DLC is coming out so soon, others are waiting for the third update to be announced, which is said to add more playable characters than just Sonic toFrontiers’roster. With the first batch being released in March, and thesecondSonic FrontiersDLC pack looking to release in June, there’s a chance this pattern may keep them waiting as long as September for the last update.
Even if the upcoming Sights, Sounds, and Speed DLC isn’t enough to get fans to pick up the game again after completing it, the update may serve as a good baseline as what to expectwithSonic Frontiers’post-launch updatesin terms of size, scope, and content. In that regard, players should keep their eyes out when the DLC goes live, if only to potentially look forward to the third update more or less than they already do.
