The mods forSkyrimjust keep coming, and there’s a new one that adds a DLC-sized amount of content, which includes a new questline, voice acting, and some new mechanics, such as the ability to ride a sword. Given how long it’s been since it was officially teased,The Elder Scrolls 6has its work cut out for itif it ever hopes to reach the kind of legacy thatTES5continues to enjoy.
One of the reasons Bethesda’s 2011 epic RPG is still going strong today can be attested to all theincredibleSkyrimmodsthat have come about over the years. Everything from graphical overhauls to new NPCs to bug fixes to overall improvements to the UI have been conjured up by the community. For anyone who is still a fan of the game, especially on PC, the idea of playing without a single mod installed can feel a little odd, and many examples prove that the vanilla release is not always the best experience.

When it comes to huge modifications forSkyrim, Nexus Mods user Fableforge’s “There Is No Umbra” can be counted among one of the more ambitious ones. The modder has recently released the third chapter in their DLC-sized custom expansion. Some of the things this download comes with include 11 quests spread across three chapters, around five thousands lines of dialog that’s been fully-voiced, as well as new animations and locations. However, one of the most intriguing things about this new mod is Umbra, a talking sword that can either follow the player, as well as be their weapon, but can also be ridden “like a hoverboard,” as the user puts it.
For those who don’t know,Umbra is a special weapon inSkyrimthat can be found as part of the Vile Whispers quest, coming with a high value and comes with three enchantments. Given this, some diehard fans may be interested to locate a rideable version of the item in the third chapter of Fableforge’s mod. As a side note, the download also comes with chapters two and three of “There Is No Umbra,” so this latest version is the go-to for anyone who wants to try all three out.
By this point,Skyrim’s longevity is quite legendary, and it would be understandable to assume that fans were getting quite bored with it. However, with the amount of custom content that’s being made by the community, there is more than enough to keep players entertained while they wait forThe Elder Scrolls 6.
