A new video ofThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimshows the Dragonborn’s death at the hands of a Draugr Death Overlord. The death animation, however, refused to stop showing the character fall down the entire mountain.
WhenThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimwas first released back in 2011, it blew away gamers and critics alike. From the depths of its character customization to the seemingly never-ending number of available quests,Skyrimwas a piece of art that set the bar for open-world games for years to come. Unfortunately, like many of Bethesda’s other games, it was full of glitches that ran the gambit of ridiculous and hilarious to game-breaking and infuriating. One of the bugs that bridges the gap between these two are the death animations and gamers continue to find new glitches involving the demise of the player character to this day. TheSkyrimReddit page is a place where such unusual glitches can be found.

In a recent post onThe Elder Scrolls 5: SkyrimReddit page a user known as DrunkStoleATank shared what is perhaps one of the longest death animations to be seen in a Bethesda game. Ascending a mountain the player confronts a Draugr Death Overlord who then hits the player with an Unrelenting Force shout killing them instantly. The death animation, however, just keeps on going as the player falls further and further down the mountain. To add insult to injury an ice spike is shot into the player’s head, as if the Draugr was making sure that they were dead. In total the death animation seems to go on for roughly 20 seconds before the video ends.
SinceThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimwas released, it has been re-released in some way at least four times stretching from the Xbox 360 to VR with eachedition having its own interesting quirks. The majority of these versions are loaded with similar bugs that, for some reason, the company never fixed. The number of times that Bethesda has re-released the game has now become something of a joke among gamers and currently spans three console generations. Whether re-releases will continue remains to be seen.
Since Bethesda releasedThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, the public’s attitude towards the company has soured quite a bit.Fallout 4was also loaded with bugs and while it sold decently it wasn’t quite as well-received asSkyrim.Fallout 76, likewise was a buggy mess at launch and was recently thesubject of a developer crunch controversy.
On the other hand videos like this just prove that the community that adoresThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis still alive and well. Fans still share bizarre bugs they encounter in this vast open-world game, fromplayers flying across the map on their horsesto skeleton dragons coming to their aid in battle. In addition, Bethesda wouldn’t have re-released the game so many times if fans weren’t willing to play the game over and over again on different consoles. It could be argued that, at this point, the game’s many technical issues are just all part of theSkyrimexperience.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Anniversary Editionis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
