The Sims 4launched way back in 2014, but the game has plenty of content. Regular updates, expansions, stuff packs, and other additions are regularly produced by EA and Maxis, ensuring that players can always findsomething to do inThe Sims 4.

Unfortunately, these new content rollouts aren’t always smooth. The latestSims 4update caused a myriad of issues including the possibility of incest, rapid aging, and unintended fame. Thankfully, EA has now announced a fix is rolling out in the near future.

According to a tweet coming from the officialSims 4account, EA has looked into the issues that have been reported since theHigh School YearsSims 4patchdropped. According to the company, the fix will roll out by the end of the week, and it should also amend some other remaining issues since the update launched, like players not receiving their expected bonus content for pre-ordering the expansion.

Unfortunately, this leaves players in the lurch for now. EA has recommended that players not use the short or long lifespan options in the interim, in order to avoid havingSims rapidly ageor even die suddenly. However, there’s no immediate advice for avoiding the other issues. While some might be amused by these problems, others are likely horrified at seeing their Sims suddenly grow interested in flirting with their own blood relatives. Many players have likely been looking forward to the High School expansion’s release, making it a disappointment to not be able to play their normal saves as they might like until sometime next week.

It’s a shame that the game’s update launched in this condition, as a widespread issue like this likely could have been caught before it was pushed to users. However, it’s not the first time that things have gone awry with new updates and patches toThe Sims 4. EA has previously had to scramble tofix issues with the My Wedding Stories game packearlier this year, and a trait update back in 2021 caused similar problems. Long-timeSims 4fans are likely used to there being a few bumps in the update process by this point.

At the moment, it’s unclear how much more supportThe Sims 4will receive. Although many players are looking forward toThe Sims 5and what it could potentially bring to the table, there’s no official release window for the game yet, so it’s likely still far off in the future. With any luck, any future additions toThe Sims 4will see a smoother release than High School Years did.

The Sims 4is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
