The story ofSekiro: Shadows Die Twiceis all about shades of gray, but one of the few definitively dark characters is Doujun. Despite that, players have the ability to help him towards his nefarious ends at the expense of some of the game’s nicer characters.

The driving force inSekiro: Shadows Die Twice’s story isGenichiro Ashina’s attempts to gain immortality. While the most notable is his kidnapping of Kuro at the start of the game, he had diversified his immortality portfolio even before Wolf and Kuro appeared on the scene.

Part of that was working with a number of other groups in and around Ashina territory. Alongside theSenpou Monks that experimented on children, he also seemingly reached out to others who were working independently. Doujun is one of them, and he needs Wolf to bring him one big, tough man to help him advance his research.

What Are the Rewards for Sending Kotaro or Jinzaemon to Doujun?

Players get a bundle ofShinobi Prosthetic upgrade materialsfor sending Doujun either Jinzaemon or Kotaro. This can be done relatively easily, but it’s not necessarily the best idea.

There’s effectively no difference between sending Doujun either Jinzaemon or Kotaro. In both cases, players receive three Lumps of Fat Wax and can later gain an Academic’s Red Lump. Sending a person to Doujun is the only way to receive the Academic’s Red Lump.

Players can choose to send Jinzaemon to Doujun by speaking to him at any point before he reaches the Mibu Village. In order to send Kotaro to Doujun, they will need to find the Red and White Pinwheel right before theArmored Warrior boss fight. From there, they can recommend he go to Doujun.

Should Kotaro or Jinzaemon Be Sent to Doujun?

Players should not send anyone to Doujun. The rewards for completing both Jinzaemon’s and Kotaro’s questlines are ultimately greater than the ones for completing Doujun’s questline.

Finishing Jinzaemon’s questline by bringing him toO’Rin of the Waterwill net players Jinza’s Jizo Statue. This is a unique version of the Bundled Jizo Statue that restores Wolf’s resurrection powers, allowing him to continue fighting.

Kotaro’s questline either rewards the player with a Taro Persimmon or multiple upgrades to Anayama the Peddler’s inventory. Though the Taro Persimmon isn’t necessarily great, sending him to Anayama the Peddler is invaluable.

Though the Lumps of Fat Wax are valuable, sending Kotaro to Anayama also unlocks these items in his inventory for 300 Sen apiece. Since money is of limited use in the latter stages of the game, players are better served just spending the 900 Sen to gain access to the other items Kotaro unlocks.
