During a recent earnings call,Electronic Artsconfirmed that one of its studios is currently working on an HD remaster. No information about this HD remaster was officially provided, be it name or franchise, unfortunately, and fans were left to speculate. However, this HD remaster is reportedly theMass Effect Trilogy.

VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb made the claim that the HD remaster that was confirmed by Electronic Arts is theMass Effect Trilogy. In his article about EA’s financial call, Grubb nonchalantly stated that the two were one and the same. The claim had no sources cited or supporting evidence provided, which puts it firmly in the rumor territory.
While there’s no firm evidence that aMass Effect Trilogyremaster is in development, there have been hints that it may be in the works previously. BioWare social media has in the recent past made cryptic references toMass Effectjust in recent months. While thehashtag MassRelaysended up referring to a music series, that hasn’t slowed speculation about BioWare building to some newMass Effectnews.
Perhaps the most persuasive argument that aMass Effect Trilogyis being made is just how obvious a decision it would be.Mass Effectremains an incredibly popular franchise and the original trilogy is beloved, even withMass Effect 3’s controversial ending. There’s also a generation shift in consoles coming up, making for a great opportunity to get the trilogy into the hands of a wave of new players.
UntilBioWaremakes an official announcement, the existence of aMass Effect Trilogyremaster is a rumor at best. Fans won’t have to wait too long to find out the truth, as EA’s HD remaster was confirmed for the current Fiscal Year. It should launch before March 2021, so an announcement should be coming in the months ahead. Hopefully, that news is coming sooner or later.
