Of the many exciting titles releasing later in 2021,Resident Evil Villageis one that many in the gaming community have been looking forward to. Following the massive success ofResident Evil 7,Resident Evil Villageis looking to expand upon everything that was established in the previous game in terms of both gameplay and narrative. Though, in the excitement leading up to the game, one player has managed to recreate a screenshot via some rather unexpected means.

Resident Evil Villagemarks the return of Ethan Winters, the primary playable character inResident Evil 7. The eighth installment in the series will serve as the continuation of Ethan’s story. While the game won’t be out for another two months, a content creator has given fans an idea of what the finished product could look like.

Mojo Swoptops on YouTube has dynamically recreated a screenshot fromResident Evil Villageusing the map builder inFar Cry 5.Mojo takes the viewer through the process of recreating the screenshot point by point during the video and the finished product is ultimately quite impressive, despite not having the same level of graphical polish as the RE Engine. It is, admittedly, rather strange to see someone utilizing the map builder fromFar Cry 5of all things and not some other popular sandbox tool.

This actually isn’t the first time that Mojo Swoptops has recreated a scene from theResident Evilseries usingFar Cry 5’smap builder. Back in late January the user recreatedthe village fromResident Evil 4inFar Cry 5. For a game as old asResident Evil 4, fans may be pleased to see such a classic game receive such a significant improvement in terms of graphics.

Although, it does make one wonder when exactly theremake ofResident Evil 4will be announced. It could be that Capcom wants to completely devote its attention to the release ofResident Evil Village, but as of right now, it’s still only rumored to be in development.

Then again, there are currently a large number of ongoingResident Evilprojects that are currently in development, aside fromResident Evil Village. What with the reboot of the film franchise, a NetflixResident EvilTV series, and a CGI animated Netflix movie titledResident Evil: Infinite Darkness, Capcom currently has a lot of irons in the fire in terms ofResident Evil. It’s safe to say at this point that now could not be a better time to be aResident Evilfan.

Resident Evil Villageis set to release on May 29, 2025, for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
