Even though the remake ofResident Evil 4seems to be going for a more serious tone, some fans can’t help but amusingly point out the fact that Ramon Salazar looks strikingly similar to former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. WithCapcom due to air an eventin relation to the upcoming survival horror title, many will be getting pretty hyped up about the game’s release, which will be launching on PC and consoles in the coming weeks.As one of thebest GameCube horror games of all time, not to mention one of the most celebrated entries in the long-running series, the originalResident Evil 4holds a special place in many people’s hearts. Shifting more towards action didn’t deter the fourth entry from leaving a huge impact on the genre. As spotted by The Gamer, it’s been noted that Salazar, one of the main antagonistsinResident Evil4, shares an uncanny resemblance to the late Margaret Thatcher. Twitter user SMlTTENMITTENS said they didn’t even realize a still from the inbound remake was of Salazar and mistakenly thought it was supposed to be an image of the late politician. A couple of other people responding to the tweet seem to agree. It’s unlikely that this was an intentional design choice, but some reading may find it difficult to not see theRE4villain as anything other than a digital representation of the conservative political leader after this.
While not thehardest boss in the originalResident Evil 4, Ramon Salazar is certainly one of the most memorable. The dialog between the nobleman and Leon Kennedy is what gives the OG release its cheesy appeal. Judging by footage and teasers of the remake, it stands to reason that the dynamic between them will remain largely intact, even if Salazar is visually similar to the former prime minister.
Speaking of cheesy dialog, some of that may be getting reeled in, as it looks as though theremake ofResident Evil 4wants to go for a darker vibe. No doubt it will still strike a balance between older fan nostalgia and newcomer appeal, but Capcom is likely going for a moodier atmosphere, similar to theRE2andRE3remakes.
