Red Dead Onlineplayers are expressing their discontent with Rockstar Games. Although the developer has stepped in to fix major issues with the game, such as when hackers spawned in KKK members, fans are growing impatient as they wait for the game’s next major update.

Some of Rockstar’s most notable updates were months ago, when thedeveloper introduced the Moonshiner rolein December and Frontier Pursuit Free Roam missions in January. Although the developer teased new roles for the game, no new roles have emerged. Rockstar has continued to offer XP bonuses, new cosmetics and general fixes. However, many fans on Reddit have continued to poke fun at the lack of new gameplay.

One of the most recent memes also took a shot at the long wait between major updates. In a new post, Reddit user The_Synth_Potato shared a meme depicting three old men huddled around a video game controller with the caption “Me and the boys playing the nextRDOupdate.” Several fans chimed in with their own wry commentary, saying that “retirement homes are going to be awesome for us!” OtherRed Dead Onlinefans talked about moving to other narrative-driven games likeThe Last of Us Part 2and the upcomingCyberpunk 2077.

Despite the ongoing jokes at Rockstar’s defense, some fans still defended the developer in their responses. One Reddit user pointed out that when the nextRed Dead Onlineupdate finally launched, some fans would likely complain that it was low-quality. Considering Rockstar has continued to support new roles and providenew bonuses for Free Roam eventswith its updates, this complaint may have merit. Even a comment from The_Synth_Potato supported this sentiment, who pointed out that Rockstar could have “develop[ed] an entire story DLC” during this seven month period. Others theorized that Rockstar was leading up to another big update soon.

Although players' concerns about Rockstar’s silence regardingRed Dead Online’s future contentare valid, the developer clearly hasn’t forgotten about its game. Hopefully, Rockstar will be able to satiate fans' hunger for more content soon with a new teaser or the mythical update itself.
