Summary
Ravenswatch, developed by Passtech Games (the team behindCurse Of The Dead Gods), isan isometric actionrogue-like with a highly stylized look and feel. Currently in Early Access,Ravenswatchtakes heavyinspiration from old legends and folkloreto paint a rich and unique world, with a distinct gameplay loop that allows it to stand out from the crowd.
Ravenswatchrecently received a large update, adding a long-awaited third chapter to the game, a reroll system, and severalnew talentsfor players to take advantage of. While there are only eight new standard talents, one for each ofRavenswatch’splayable characters, each of them adds some much-needed variety.
8Snowball
Snow Queen’s New Talent
TheSnow Queenis arguably one of the most powerful heroes in the game, with many powerful talents available to her. This new talent,Snowball, isn’t the strongest of her talents, but it’s still a welcome addition to her pool.
When players have the Snowball talent, their power ability creates a snowball that rolls forward, dealing damage and chilling any enemies in its path. Every enemy hit by this snowball, however, reduces its size and damage by 12%. While this talent does help the Snow Queen control crowds and chill enemies faster, it shouldn’t be a priority for players.
7Explosive Builds
Geppetto’s New Talent
Geppettocan bea hard heroto get off the ground, thanks to most of his damage coming from his trait. Geppetto’s trait allows him to build autonomous dummies, which automatically attack nearby enemies and can be hurled toward them with Geppetto’s power. His new talent,Explosive Builds, rewards Geppetto for placing as many dummies as possible in combat.
Explosive Builds creates an AOE explosion that deals 40 damage by default when dummies are created with Geppetto’s trait. While far from game-changing, this can be especially powerful when combined with talents such as Large Family.
6Shard Blades
Aladdin’s New Talent
Aladdincan be a tricky character to get the hang of, with his Enchanted Blades ability robbing players of the means to auto attack. However, Aladdin’s new talent,Shard Blades, makes Enchanted Blades a much more powerful ability.
Enchanted Blades throws Aladdin’s scimitars, dealing damage and granting the player Enchantment points for every enemy they hit. Shard Blades takes full advantage of this, increasing the range and damage of Aladdin’s auto attacks so long as the player has Enchantment points.
5Water Bubble
Melusine’s New Talent
Melusineis a particularly unique character, as players aren’t able to move and auto attack at the same time, instead having to switch back and forth between stances. However, Melusine’s potential damage output is relatively high when players know what they’re doing. This is helped by her array of powerful talents, withWater Bubblebeing the latest addition.
Water Bubble boosts Melusine’s defense ability, surrounding her in a protective bubble that absorbs the next hit she takes. When the bubble is popped, it explodes and deals 60 damage in the surrounding area. While not massive damage, the protective capabilities of the Water Bubble on top of its AOE damage make it a helpful utility.
4Om
Sun Wukong’s New Talent
Sun Wukongis a formidable hero, with the potential to dish out massive amounts of damage, support his fellow companions, and sustain himself with shields and healing. Most of this utility comes from Sun Wukong’s traits and his powerful defense ability, but hisarray of powerful talentsplay a large part in his success.
Omis the newest of these talents, and greatly increases the power of Sun Wukong’s special. This new talent increases the radius of Sun Wukong’s special ability by 24% by default, and hits every enemy within while active. This dramatically improves Sun Wukong’s AOE, and can help keep smaller enemies off of him while he resurrects fallen allies or focuses on larger foes.
3Sforzando
Pied Piper’s New Talent
ThePied Piperhas several utilities and abilities that make him useful in a team. This hero’s new ability gives him even more utility, upgrading his special ability, Fortissimo.Sforzando’seffect triggers an implosive version of the Pied Piper’s defense ability when used, pulling enemies inwards rather than pushing them away.
Sforzando also increases the range of the triggered defense by 20%, which makes this a must-take talent for players looking to upgrade the Pied Piper’s special ability. When combined with the Jack Of Diamonds to increase the special’s damage, Sforzando is a particularly powerful talent that can help the Pied Piper controlthe game’s cel-shaded crowdsand increase their damage output.
2Evisceration
Scarlet’s New Talent
Scarletis a unique character as she completely changes when night comes, changing intoa massive werewolf. This new talent affects Scarlet in both of her forms, applying bleed to enemies hit by her power, increasing for every combo point spent.
By default,Eviscerationapplies 8% of the damage dealt as bleed, making Scarlet’s potential scaling much better than it otherwise would be and allowing her to deal massive damage toward the end of the game. Overall, this makes Evisceration a talent that makes sense to take if players have upgraded Scarlet’s power ability.
1Breath Of Fire
Beowulf’s New Talent
Beowulfmay have a slow start in the early game, but he’sa powerful herothanks to his potential as both a tank and a damage dealer. Beowulf’s defense ability, a powerful shield, helps keep him in the fight, while his variety of Wyrm synergies help him to ignite large crowds of enemies with the right talents.
Breath Of Firehelps Beowulf ignite enemies more consistently, something that is necessary for players building into Beowulf’s other talent, Blazing Runes (which grants +50% chance to critically hit against ignited enemies). When finishing Beowulf’s attack combo, Breath Of Fire triggers the Wyrm to breathe fire. This fire breath ignites any enemies hit and deals 200% damage. Combined with the bonus attack speed granted by the Blademaster talent, Breath Of Fire is one of the most powerful talents in Beowulf’s toolkit.
