Poisoned grenades might not sound exciting but they play a big role at crucial times inRainbow Six Extraction. On harder difficulties, bosses and elites turn into bullet sponges and squads are likely to run out of ammunition well before finishing the mission.

That’s where Smoke comes in. By supplementing bullet damage with remote gas grenades, these tanky aliens fall quickly and enable the squad to finish the mission without running dry. Pulling off this maneuver can be tricky, so Smoke needs to have a very particular loadout inRainbow Six Extraction.

Primary Weapon - M590A1

Of all theoperators to level up first, Smoke makes a compelling case. Not only is do his grenades get stronger and more plentiful, but he gains access to one of his better weapons. Shotguns are recommended as primary weapons for almost all operators, but especially for Smoke as he will have to tee off on bosses.

The M590A1 has impressive stopping power with each shell. It’s perfect for those moments when stealth isn’t a possibility (which is the case with several objectives). It’s especially handy for bringing down elite units which is the main reason Smoke is a beloved squadmate to begin with.

Secondary Weapon - P226 Mk 25

Many whorank the best guns in the gamewill order them based on their overall output. And that’s fine, but stealth must absolutely be a consideration. Successful squads should engage in stealth whenever possible and reserve their main damage dealing weapon for when things take a turn in a negative direction.

For most of the time, Smoke will be sticking to the P226 Mk 25 with a suppressor. Don’t fret about damage with this gun, it’s plenty strong enough to kill an opponent with a single hit to the weak spot from any distance.

Explosive Tech - Paralysis Grenade

Detonating a remote poison trap at just the right moment and then having enemy units stay in that trap is a tall order. They won’t voluntarily walk into the toxic air and, if they get caught in it, they will leave as soon as they can.

That’s where the Paralysis Grenade plays a vital role in getting Smoke’s ability off. Stun the big baddie, then place the Remote Gas Grenades and detonate them. Doing this dance may take more than one Paralysis Grenade but it will yieldlots of experience in a short timeframe.

Gear - Explosive Harness

Because the ability combined with the Paralysis Grenade is crucial to Smoke’s success as an operator, grab the Explosive Harness. Using it will give Smoke more Paralysis Grenades and, by default, more opportunities to execute the combo.

The other options here are mostly for recon and healing. If Smoke is involved, that job needs to be done by the rest of the Squad. Smoke is a primary damage dealer at the biggest moments and the rest of the team needs to recognize this and adjust their loadouts accordingly.
