Many fans, though disappointed, supported Sony’s decision to delay the PS5 event and respect the seriousness of the Black Lives Matter protests. The PS5 reveal event also isn’t the only event to have been affected by them. CD Projekt RED confirmed that it would bedelaying theCyberpunk 2077Night City Wire eventby several weeks in support for the movement. The consensus on social media seems to be that these gaming companies are doing the right thing.
However, there is also some amount of frustration that Sony has waited so long to provide fans with more information about the console. One report suggested thatSony had delayed the PS5 event several times this yearas the company was concerned about it having a “work from home” quality and it wanted something more of a studio broadcast level.
Not much has been confirmed about the PS5 and fans had thought that the reveal event would provide more information, Sony has shared details about thePS5 DualSense controller, the console’s specs and there have been a couple of trailers for PS5 launch titleGodfall. In comparison, Microsoft has revealed the Xbox Series X design, several of its features, and games and there are plans to share more information in June and July.
If the PS5 reveal event does provide confirmations aboutrumored PS5 gamesHorizon Zero Dawn 2,God of War 2, and a new Bluepoint Games remaster then fans may not be as upset about being kept to wait. Until then though, fans are looking for Sony to reveal more about its reveal plans.
