Afterbeating the Elite FourinPokemon Scarlet & Violet, players will have a chance to take on the top Champion and Pokemon League Chairwoman, Geeta. Before they do, Rika will heal up their current team and they can take a moment to draft in some new Pokemon from their boxes if needed. Players should also save the game here, as doing so will allow them to retry the battle with Geeta without having to battle the Elite Four again if they lose.

When compared to previous Champion battles, the one inPokemon Scarlet & Violetis actually relatively straightforward, even with the addition of Tera Type Pokemon. Despite it being easier though, players will still need to pick the right team if they want to become a Champion, which means analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of Geeta’s team and choosing Pokemon that can avoid the former and exploit the latter.

How to Prepare for Geeta

Being able to choose a team of six specifically for the battle with Geeta makes things a lot easier than in previous generations ofPokemongames. It effectively means that players can afford to bring along a counter for each of the Chairwoman’s Pokemon, which means Bug-types for Espathra and Veluza, a Flying-type for Gogoat, Fighting-types for Avalugg and Kingambit (the one up against the latter needs to be quick as Kingambit knows Zen Headbutt), and a Ground or Water-type for Tera Glimmora.

Dual types are not really advised in the battle against Top Champion Geeta, as her team’s move sets are designed to limit the number of possible counters.

Providing players make a point of attacking weakness and are mindful of the typing of the moves that each of Geeta’s team has, they shouldn’t really have too much trouble taking her down. The only Pokemon that are likely to cause players any trouble at all are Kingambit and the RockTera TypeGlimmora, but even they shouldn’t be too difficult to overcome with the right strategy.

Kingambit has a four times weakness toFighting-type attacks, so a fast Fighting-type or a strong neutral type (Dragon, Water, Normal, etc) with access to Fighting-type moves should have no trouble one-shotting it providing they’re not too under-leveled. As for Tera Glimmora, a good Ground or Water-type should do the trick, but if all else fails, Houndstone will be able to tank a hit and then wipe it out with Last Respects, assuming, that is, that Houndstone is the last conscious Pokemon in the player’s team.

Once Geeta has been defeated, she’ll hand over ₽14,880 in prize money, after which, she’ll confirm the player’s status as a Champion. That’s not quite the end ofthe Victory Road story arc, however, as the player’s rival Nemora will show up and challenge them to one final battle. Players will be asked to choose where the battle should take place, though the only correct answer here is Mesagoza. They can then make their way back to the academy at their leisure, though they may want to do a bit of prep work before they do so.
