The base game ofPokemon Scarlet and Violethas six major legendaries for players to catch, with plenty of more opening up once Pokemon Home transfers begin, and plenty of rare Pokemon on top of that. Some evolutions require players to walk thousands of steps with them out in the wild, while others require players to gather items to evolve them, likeSinistea Chips for Ceruledge, but the rarest Pokemon may actually be a shiny Three-Segment Dudunsparce.As many know by now,Dunsparce gets a new evolution inPokemon Scarlet and Violet. Dudunsparce basically gets a little bigger, adds a few more redundancies to the form, and a few body segments. The most common evolution of Dudunsparce sees it in its Two-Segment form, meaning it has two body segments, but there is another form known as the Three-Segment form which is pretty self-explanatory. It and Maushold are two Pokemon withspecial forms inPokemon Scarlet and Violetlike this, with Maushold having its Family of Three or Family of Four forms.RELATED:Why Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Nemona is Trending on TwitterAccording to Serebii’s Joe Merrick, the chance of getting a Family of Four Maushold or Three-Segment Dudunsparce is 1 in 100, but a key difference is that both of Maushold’s forms will appear in Raids. Three-Segment Dundsparce does not, so those hoping for a shiny (pictured below) will be playing against the odds. Thebase rate for Shiny Pokemon inPokemon Scarlet and Violetis 1 in 4056. Multiply that by 100, and it means on the standard rate, there’s a1 in 405, 600 chance of getting a shiny Three-Segment Dudunsparce.
Of course, there are a fewmethods for Shiny hunting inPokemon Scarlet and Violetto lower those numbers. For example, should Dunsparce appear in a Mass Outbreak (which is another roll of luck in and of itself) and reset it with the Picnic method, players can eliminate 60 of these Pokemon to make a shiny a 1 in 1,365 chance. This still means, even with this luck and method, fans have a1 in 136, 500 of finding a shiny Dunsparcethat can evolve into a shiny Three-Segment Dunsparce. Completely loaded up with a Shiny Charm, Sparking Power Level 3, a 60-mass outbreak clear, and 8 shiny rolls, the chance of finding a Shiny becomes 1/512, but for ashiny Three-Segment Dunsparce, that’s still 1 in 51, 200. And again, that requires players to get a mass outbreak for Dunsparce on top of that.
Indeed, anyone who intends to shiny hunt a Three-Segment Dunsparce had better be ready to invest a lot of time intoPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
