Summary
The recent, reliable leak of Bloodmoon Ursaluna inPokemon Scarlet and Violetshould be the last word regarding one debate within the fandom. There are bound to be a lot of questions revolving aroundPokemon Scarlet and Violet, especially with the DLC set to be released soon. However, alongside those questions will be answers, and at least one important answer is already in plain sight. There are still a few uncertain details that will need to be ironed out as the DLC’s release approaches, but Ursaluna puts one key detail to rest.
The discovery ofUrsaring’s evolution Ursaluna inPokemon Legends: Arceuswas a big surprise, and it also introduced a seriously powerful new option for players. Ursaring was already a powerful physical attacker, and Ursaluna expanded all of its best traits. It was slightly stronger and significantly bulkier, making it a dangerous fighter that was difficult to take down. Plus its new Ground typing gave it access to a brutally powerful Earthquake, at least when it wasn’t using the terrifying Headlong Rush.Pokemon Legends: Arceusintroduced a decent variety of new evolutions. However, while many were powerful, Ursaluna is easily among the scariest of the bunch.

Bloodmoon Ursaluna Proves Pokemon Legends: Arceus' Canonicity
It turns out that anunexpected upgrade forPokemon Scarlet and Violetis coming in the form of Bloodmoon Ursaluna, per recent leaks. Bloodmoon Ursaluna has the same intimidating size as the original, but a few clear differences set it apart. With a new design over its face that looks like mud in the form of a cracked mask, it looks like Ursaluna reimagined in the form of a horror movie. Since details are so scarce, it’s not clear if Bloodmoon Ursaluna will have a different type or different stats compared to the normal form. However, its striking appearance is enough to provoke discussion regarding its origins.
Bloodmoon Ursaluna proves one thing aboutPokemon’s timeline thatUrsaluna’s addition toPokemon Scarlet and Violetdid not. When Hisuian forms first became available inScarlet and VioletviaPokemon HOME, it could be passed off as a non-canon bonus feature. However, with a new form of the previously Hisui-exclusive Ursaluna coming out inScarlet and Violet’s DLC, it’s hard to not see that as a confirmation of Hisuian Pokemon being real in the mainlinePokemonseries. As a result, that also points toPokemon Legends: Arceusbeing part of the main series' timeline, rather than a spin-off.
Now that Bloodmoon Ursaluna is coming to the game, not only does it establish an even more solidconnection betweenScarlet and VioletandLegends: Arceus, but it also opens the door for more Hisuan Pokemon to appear in the future. After all, not only does Bloodmoon Ursaluna prove that the Pokemon seen inLegends: Arceusare canon, but it also implies that Hisuian Pokemon aren’t extinct either. Ursaluna showing up in a main series game means that other Pokemon like Sneasler and Enamorus could do the same in the future. For that reason, Bloodmoon Ursaluna could be one of the most important additions inPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s DLC.
It seems pretty clear thatPokemon Legends: Arceusis officially a part of the main series with Bloodmoon Ursaluna making its debut, though there have been plenty of fan debates since its release. While not the only new Pokemon in The Teal Mask DLC, Bloodmoon Ursaluna will probably be the one with the most impact. Not only is it an incredibly powerful Pokemon, but it also presents a lot of new opportunities for the series going forward. Hisuian Pokemon and forms may not have to be restricted toLegends: Arceusanymore. With Bloodmoon Ursaluna inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, it’s clear thatPokemon Legends: Arceusand its Pokemon are canon after all.
