Summary
Pokemon Legends Z-Ais set to be released in 2025, with the first trailer already getting fans talking about what they can expect. Like allPokemongames, though, there are sure to be many new Pokemon added to the game. The trailer even showed a few familiar faces who are returning to the mix.Pokemon Legends Arceusincluded new regional forms and some new evolutions to the franchise. However,Pokemon Legends, Z-Ahas already revealed that Mega Evolutions will be returning, and Paradox forms have made it into the series since the first game.
The franchise is sure to make sure that some of the Pokemon in this new game are great for battling, too. It is all just speculation at this stage, butPokemon Legends Z-Ais sure to also feature some overpowered Pokemon for fans to look forward to.
6Mega Gyarados
Pokedex Number: 130
Gyarados was one of the first Pokemon from generation one to receive a Mega Evolution in theX and Ygames. This small fishfinally evolves into a powerful water and flying type in the original games, and it luckily gets another upgrade as it can now Mega Evolve into a powerful dark and water type, something that removes its quad weakness to electricity. Mega Gyrados also has an absurdly high attack stat, which has made it a great choice for competitivePokemonplayers.
There has not been any confirmation that this Pokemon will be inLegends Z-A,but the fact that Gyrados can be seen in the trailer and that Mega Evolutions are returning almost makes the inclusion of this overpowered Pokemon a sure thing.
5Mega Steelix
Pokedex Number: 208
Steelix was already an intimidating Pokemon when it debuted in generation two. This ground and steel type snake isone of the biggest Pokemon in the series, and is one of the most defensively built creatures that a player can face. However, this Pokemon boosts its defensive stat to a whopping 230 when it Mega Evolves, while also maintaining its extraordinary attack stat, which makes it a very overpowered Pokemon to take out in battle.
Similarly to Gyarados, Steelix was also seen in the new trailer. Therefore, it can be assumed that both Steelix and its Mega form will appear inPokemon Legends Z-A.
4Aegislash
Pokedex Number: 681
Anyone who remembers the run-up to the release ofPokemon X and Ywill also remember what an uphill climb Aegislash was faced with when it was first seen. Many fans were not keen on the idea of a floating sword and shield being a Pokemon, so it looked likethis steel and ghost typewould be largely unused by thePokemoncommunity. However, Aegislash proved to be a very powerful Pokemon in battle and became a firm favorite in the competitive scene due to its extremely high defensive stats.
The fact that Aegislah has the ability to switch stances in battle also means it can use both offensive and defensive strategies, something that makes it extremely overpowered in the hands of a good player. This Pokemon was seen using this maneuver in thePokemon Legends Z-Atrailer, so it seems obvious that Aegislah will be returning to its home region when the next game arrives.
3Mega Greninja
Pokedex Number: 658
The starter trio from the original Kalos games did not receive Mega forms inPokemon X and Y,and the three have received very little attention from the developers since their debut. While no confirmation has come from Gamefreak as yet, it seems thatPokemon Legends Z-Ais the perfect opportunity to give these regional starters some new attention. One of the best ways to do this, of course, would be to give them all Mega Evolutions in the game, which returns players to their debut region.
Both Mega versions of Chesnaught and Delphox have the potential to be powerful, but anything overpowered is likely to be given to Greninja. This dextrous frog was given a large role in the anime, and itsAsh-Greninja form is a fan favorite Pokemon, and could also serve as inspiration for its new Mega form. Anyone who can imagine a Mega Greninja also knows that both its attacks and speed stats would be through the roof.
2Mega Charizard Z
Pokedex Number: 006
If any Pokemon in the series is likely to get a new form in the next game, then fans understand that it will be Charizard. This fan-favorite fire starter from the firstPokemongames is almost popular enough to contend with the franchise’s mascot, Pikachu, and it often gets some new attention during a new release.
Charizard was on the box art ofPokemon Red,one of the rarestPokemoncards in a trading card game, and hada significant role to play in the first season of the anime. Since then, it has gone on to receive two Mega Evolutions in the sixth generation and a new gigantamax form in generation eight. Therefore, it seems that Charizard will also receive some new attention in the form of a Mega Charizard Z in the next games to complete the trilogy. Also, it is likely to be very overpowered.
1Zygarde
Pokedex Number: 718
As many fans of thePokemonseries already know, Zygarde is a legendary Pokemon that has missed a huge opportunity. It seemed like a natural move to give this Pokemon a third game in generation six to expand on the lore of the first games, but nothing ever arrived. Zygarde was expanded on a little in generation seven, but it has always felt like this Pokemon missed its chance to be a popular legendary.
Now thatPokemon Legends Z-Aare returning to Kalos, and the title features the letter Z, it seems that Zygarde is going to factor into the next game in a big way. As a legendary, Zygarde already has some big stats. However, giving it a new form to make it extra powerful, like how Legends Arceus did with Giratina, seems necessary with Zygarde. Perhaps the developers can create Mega Zygarde to make it truly overpowered.
