Pokemon Legends: Arceusfeaturesdozens of optional requestsfor the player to complete as they work on filling out their Pokedex and saving the enraged nobles around Hisui. Request 28, or “Measuring Your Compatibility,” is one of the earlier requests players can get. The request is given by an NPC named Belamy, who can be located by the pastures near the entrance of Jubilife Village.
Measuring Your Compatibility focuses on showing Belamy a Pokemon that the player has high friendship with. High friendship has been a staple ofmany prior Pokemon games; in fact, several Pokemon throughout prior games and inPokemon Legends: Arceuswill only evolve if they have high friendship with the player. However, it might not be clear to many players as to how to gain friendship with Pokemon, or how to know that the friendship level between the player and a specific Pokémon is very high. Here’s how to gain friendship, check friendship, and complete Request 28.
How To Gain Friendship With Pokemon
Though it may seem difficult, increasing friendship with a specific Pokemon isn’t too hard — in fact, it’s pretty common sense. Gaining friendship happens naturally as the player travels and explores with their Pokemon.Fighting battles with themand winning without fainting will raise friendship quickly, but keeping them in the party while the playerdoes their thing around Hisuiwill also raise friendship passively, albeit at a slightly slower pace. Having a chosen Pokemoncollect resourceslike ores and plants will also raise friendship.Feeding them EXP Candieswill help, too.

At the same time, there are ways to lower friendship, which should definitely be avoided. Allowing the Pokemon in the player’s party to be injured in battle without healing them lowers friendship, and letting them faint will lower friendship very quickly. In the opposite manner to EXP Candies, there are alsoitems like Remediesthat taste so bitter they’ll lower the player’s friendship with their Pokémon. Thankfully, these are easy to avoid. Just be sure tokeep party Pokemon healed and healthy,and friendship should continue raising quickly.
How To Complete Request 28: Measuring Your Compatibility
Once the player is certain they have a Pokemon with a high enough friendship level,return to Belamy in Jubilife Village. Upon speaking to him, he’ll ask to see a Pokemon of the player’s choice. If the player isn’t certain as to which Pokemon to choose, a Pokemon caught early on — such as the starter Pokemon they chose — is likely a promising choice. Once the player has shown Belamy their Pokemon, he’ll respond in one of two ways. Either he will let the player know that their friendship isn’t high enough, or he’ll congratulate the player on achieving true friendship with their chosen Pokemon.
After completing this request, players will be rewarded withone Rare Candy. They’ll also unlockBelamy’s ability to check friendship for all of their Pokemon.This can be especially helpful when checking to see how close a certain Pokemon may be to evolvingif their evolution is lockedbehind friendship, like Sylveon or Crobat, or even if players would just generally like to know how close they are with their party.
