Pokemon GOplayers have been racing from one event to the next thanks to the weeklongextended celebration of Pokemon Dayand things aren’t slowing down as we head into the weekend. Tomorrow marks the Party Hat Gengar and Nidorino Raid Day, which means players will be out taking advantage of a few free Raid Passes while they hunt down Party Hat Pokemon with a shiny chance.

The Gengar/Nidorino theme for thePokemon GORaid Day may seem a little strange since neither Pokemon is particularly relevant tothe metagame inPokemon GO, but it’s actually a throwback reference to the opening screen of Pokemon Red, Firered/Leafgreen. It can also be considered a nod to the opening of the original anime series, as well.

Like most Raid Days, this event spans three hours and offers a greatly increased chance to find the spotlight Pokemon at local Gyms. Each of the Pokemon also have a special moveset and will feature Party Hats when they are encountered to catch. Both have a chance to be shiny as well, so there’s definitely good reason for collectors to head out and try to catch as many as possible.

Sunday, March 1st, 2pm to 5pm local time

Cancellations

Please note that the event has been cancelled in some regions, due to the Coronavirus.

Nidorino Counters

Nidorino is only a tier 2 Raid, so players aren’t going to have very much trouble with this one at all. The Raid is pretty easy to solo for players who have a Mewtwo equipped with the right moveset or if it can be defeated with two people without really breaking a sweat.

Best Counter: Mewtwo and Armored Mewtwo

Gengar Counters

Gengar on the other hand is a tier 4 Raid that players should definitely attempt to team up with some friends to take down. The Pokemon can be taken down with 2 high level players, but it’s much safer to stick with a team of 3+ people.

Giratina (origin) - Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball

Darkrai - Snarl/Shadow Ball

For now, players may want to keep hunting downthe best Unova Pokemon in the gameif improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for morePokemon GOstrategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
