It is no secret thatPokemonis an incredibly popular franchise. With over 900 Pokemon at the time of writing, and games that have been coming out since the 1990s,Pokemonhas plenty of fans around the world and a great amount of potential for some impressive fan art to be created.Pokemonfans have often created tributesto their favorite region, Pokemon, or game, such as one player who recently created a piece of art that featured Gengar, Gastly, and Haunter resembling a field of stars.
Now onePokemonfan has created what could be the ultimate piece of wall art. Shown on Reddit, some fans initially thought that the design of user synthetikxangel was a custom PC case, with one fan even commenting that they thought they saw a motherboard in the background. On closer inspection, it can be seen that the background of the art is aPokemonmap and not a motherboard. In the foreground is a collection of some originalPokemontitles on the Game Boy, featuringPokemon Red,Pokemon Blue, andPokemonYellowfrom Gen 1, alongsidePokemon Gold, Pokemon Silver, andPokemon Crystalfrom Gen 2.

There are also some gym badges from the first and second generation ofPokemongames that can be spotted above the cartridges, and the aforementioned map in the background. Synthetikxangel explained that the map is actually a combination of theKanto and Johto regions. Considering that Johto is connected to Kanto through the West of the latter, it makes sense that a map could combine the two, and for a while some fans have wanted aPokemongame where a player can explore both regions at once.
The Kanto and Johto regions are some of the most beloved areas byPokemonfans, and there was plenty of praise for synthetikxangel’s work in combining them both. One comment asked what the artist would be looking to make next, to which synthetikxangel replied that they were planning an N64Pokemonfan art, complete with an original copy ofPokemonSnap.
While some fans like synthetikxangel are creating tributes to thePokemongames of the past, other fans are looking ahead. With the announcement ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetslated to come out later this year, plenty ofPokemonfans have been creating ideas of what new Pokemon could look like in that game or whatnew regional forms of existing Pokemoncould be.
