An artistically talentedPokemonfan has created their own design of a future Paradox form for the classic Legendary Raikou. The artist decided to post their creation online, which comes complete with its own statistics as well as some homebrewed background lore.
Raikou is a Legendary Electric-type Pokemon introduced as part ofPokemon’s second generation. Raikou is one-third of the trio known as the Legendary Beasts who, along with Entei and Suicune, were resurrected by Ho-Oh after the burning of Brass Tower. Raikou had largely been out of the spotlight until its extremely divisive Paradox form, Raging Bolt, was recently revealed. While a decidedly unorthodox design, a piece ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetfan art actually predicted Paradox Raikou.

The impressive future Paradox form concept art comes from Reddit user PhatmonMonstraros, who posted their work to one of the site’s primaryPokemonforums. Safely sticking to the majority of Raikou’s original profile, the artist also maintains the Thunder Pokemon’s standard color scheme, adding a futuristic glowing effect to its muzzle and eyes. Called Iron Saber, the Pokemon’s flowing purple mane has been fluffed up to look even more like a storm cloud, and its stripes have been turned into external plates. With rivets and paneling throughout, the artist conveys something that looks truly made of metal.
Based on the artist’s own lore, Iron Saber is described to act as a foil in personality and demeanor to the benevolent Raikou, embodying “ruthlessness and aloofness.” While making several noticeable changes, PhatmonMonstraros' design largely keeps to Raikou’s original look, unlike anotherPokemonfan’s Paradox form Raikouwhich takes quite a few more creative liberties. Still though, the design appears to be well-received among otherPokemonfans, with the post garnering only positive comments and a few dozens upvotes within hours of posting.
The future Paradox form of Raikou is just the latest from the prolificPokemonartist, who has now created a number of Paradox designs. Last week the fan revealed anincredible past Paradox form for Entei, which features a vastly different design from the original, especially when compared to the amount of changes in the Raikou above. Titled as Burning Brute, the design gives Entei a dinosaur or dragon-like face, massive horns on the head and shoulders, and a number of other details that give it a unique and intimidating look.
The consensus amongPokemonfans is that Raikou and Suicune’s Paradox forms are largely disappointing. However, their ill-received designscould be a blessing in disguise for Entei, as the perceived dinosaur theme of the Legendary Beasts has led fans to believe Paradox Entei will resemble something like a triceratops or a stegosaurus - though only time will tell.
