APokemonfan created a sketch of what they believed the Hisuian forms of Rowlet and Dartrix would look like if they existed. The fan then posted their work on these two imagined Pokemon on social media, where otherPokemon Legends: Arceusplayers praised their work and wondered why only Decidueye received a new form in the Hisui region.
First appearing inPokemon Sun and Moonfor the 3DS, Rowlet is the Grass-type starter of the Alola region. It evolves into Dartrix starting at level 17, and later into Decidueye at level 34. Both Rowlet and Dartrix last made appearances inPokemon Legends: Arceusin 2022 for the Switch. While the game is over a year old, it still held plenty oflessons that it could offer for the rest of thePokemonseries going forward. Thankfully, fan art has provided a way for Pokemon players to offer alternatives to what has yet to appear in the series.

On Reddit, a user named Kr4ckle posted some custom art on the r/Pokemon subreddit of what the Hisuian forms of Rowlet and Dartrix could look like were they inPokemon Legends: Arceus. While the two Pokemon may appear to be simple recolors of their Alolan counterparts at first glance, Kr4ckle added a few distinct flourishes to Rowlet and Dartrix. While both Pokemon have the fall-like coloration of Hisuian Decidueye, Rowlet’s bow on the front was changed from a bow-tie pattern to a five-star design. On Dartrix, the eyebrow shape was changed to go around the back of the right side of its head and the front side bow became a six-sided star shape. Hisuian Dartrix is also shown throwing its feathers in a fashion similar to kunai, adding to the ninja motif. While theseHisuian Pokemon have not appeared inPokemon Scarlet and Violet,Pokemon Homeconnectivity is coming to the games in the near future.
The art from Kr4ckle received over 3.3k upvotes on r/Pokemon in under a day, and otherPokemonfans asked if Kr4ckle would eventually draw Cyndaquil and Oshawott in similar fashions. As for why these forms were not in the game themselves, the story ofPokemon Legends: Arceusprovided an answer. In short, Professor Laventon brought these starters into the Hisui region by himself, and their regional evolutions were a result of their new environment.Pokemon Legends: Arceuswas a hit with fans, and quickly became one ofthe top Nintendo Switch games of 2022.
As for Rowlet’s final form, Decidueye will arrive inPokemon Scarlet and Violetnext weekend asa seven-star Tera raid battle. While Decidueye the Unrivaled will appear in its Alolan form, only time will tell when Hisuian Decidueye will make an appearance in the future.
