Most pseudo legendary Pokemon are Dragon-type, but there are some exceptions such as Steel/Psychic-type Metagross and Rock/Dark-type Tyranitar. However, Tyranitar is exclusive toPokemon Brilliant Diamondand cannot be caught inPokemon Shining Pearl. This was the same in the originalPokemon Diamond/Pearlwhere the only way to get Tyranitar inPokemon Pearlwas by trading it fromPokemon Diamond.
Tyranitar is a part of a three-stage evolutionary line. There are two different ways to catch its first evolution, Larvitar, inBrilliant Diamond.Shining Pearlplayers will need to trade or, whenPokemon HOMEeventually becomes available forBrilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, transfer it from their own copy ofBrilliant Diamond.

Where to Get & Evolve Larvitar
InBrilliant Diamond, players canfind Larvitar by using the PokeRadaron Route 207. It will be around level 6-7 and has a 22% chance of appearing. Trainers won’t be able to get the PokeRadar until they’ve gotten the National Dex from Professor Rowan, so this means Larvitar and its evolutions will only be available in the postgame.
Trainers can also catch Larvitar in the Grand Underground. By the postgame,Grand Underground Pokemon will be around level 60. Players also have a chance of stumbling upon Pupitar, the evolved form of Larvitar. Both Larvitar and Pupitar are rare spawns, so enter and exit the room if it doesn’t show up in the following hideaways:
If trainers catch Larvitar, they will need to level it up to level 30 so it can become Pupitar. From there, get Pupitar to level 55 so it can become Tyranitar. The Grand Underground Larvitar and Pupitar should be over-leveled,so give them a Rare Candyto boost it up a level to evolve.
Once again,Shining Pearlplayers will need to trade if they want to get any of the Pokemon in the Tyranitar-line.

More Information About Tyranitar
Being a dual Rock/Dark-type makes Tyranitar extremely weak to Fighting-type moves. However, by taking Tyranitar tothe Move Reminder in Pastoria City, it can learn moves that give it some Type-coverage against other Pokemon. Tyranitar’s sturdy Defense and Special Defense means it should be able to take a heavy hit while having a powerful Attack to dish out damage.
Players can’t use Mega Tyranitar inBrilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, but Tyranitar’s base stat total of 600 is still enough to carry it through a fight without having to resort to mega evolving.

Speed
61
Tyranitar is even slower than fellow pseudo-legendary Metagross, but it makes up for it with higher Special Defense. The best Nature for a Tyranitar isAdamant (+Attk, -Sp.Attk), butJolly (+Spd, -Spt.Attk)can work too. However, it’s better to have a Nature that raises its Attack or Defense since these are Tyranitar’s best strengths. Another Nature to have isCareful (+Sp.Def, -Sp.Attk)orImpish (+Def, -Sp.Attk).
Natures to avoid areModest (+Sp.Attk, -Attk),Bold (+Def, -Attk),orCalm (+Sp.Def, -Attk). AHasty (+Spd, -Def)is also not recommended because it builds on Tyranitar’s Speed while one of its better stats (Defense) suffers.
Immunities:
Psychic
Tyranitar learns an even amount of Rock and Dark-type Physical moves. While it learns Dark Pulse, a Dark-type move that causes flinching, Dark Pulse is a Special move and isn’t often recommended for a Physical-hitter like Tyranitar.
Use TM26 Earthquake on Tyranitarto give it some coverage against Pokemon that are weak to Ground-type moves. While Tyranitar doesn’t have moves that can counter against Fighting-type, it can learn Ice Fang or Thunder Fang which are good coverage for its Grass and Water-type weaknesses.
Being part Rock-type means Tyranitar gets access to powerful Rock-type moves such as Stone Edge, which are perfect for defeating Bug-type Pokemon. As for countering Steel-type Pokemon,Tyranitar can learn Fighting-type movessuch as Brick Break by TM, but keep in mind that Tyranitar, like any other Pokemon, can only know four moves at a time. Give it a balance of Rock/Dark-type moves while having one or two coverage moves.
Finally, Tyranitar has two Abilities: Sand Stream and Unnerve. Sand Stream will summon a sandstorm the moment Tyranitar enters battle while Unnerve stops the opponent from eating their held berry.
Between the two, Sand Stream is recommended, but be careful when using Tyranitar in a double-battle. Sandstorm will chip away at a Pokemon’s health that is not a Rock, Ground, or Steel-type. This means all Pokemon, including ally Pokemon, will suffer damage from the weather. On the plus side, a sandstorm raises the Special Defense of all Rock-type Pokemon by 50%, which isperfect for a bulky Pokemon like Tyranitar.
