Phineas and Ferbaired onDisneyChannel for 4 seasons, 129 episodes, and 222 segments. The move comes as part of a new deal with Disney Branded Television on Povenmire’s part. He will return to the series for forty new episodes, split evenly into two seasons. Negotiations are currently underway for Jeff “Swampy” Marsh’s return in an executive producer capacity. “Dan is renowned for his ability to create universally beloved stories and characters with both heart and humor. We couldn’t be happier to continue our collaboration with him and bring back the iconicPhineas and Ferbin a big way," said President of Disney Branded Television, Ayo Davis, in a statement during the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
The series' popularity stays strong these days. Fans have now grown up, and they post countless memes about the show, keeping its memory alive in the internet sphere. Whether Phineas and Ferb are building a rollercoaster, discovering a creature that doesn’t exist, orsending their sister Candace to space, fans can’t seem to get enough.
Disney has been working on several revivals in the past few years. The ‘90sX-Menanimated series is being revived on Disney Plus, so it seems that Disney is in something of a nostalgic period. Hopefully, other, lesser-known shows could get a chance at a revival. AGargoylesreboot comes to mind.
However, Disney hasn’t always come on through with its revivals. Afterordering aLizzie McGuiresequel, Disney ended up cancelling the whole thing. Povenmire’s contract on this project is more of a certainty, so Phineas and Ferb will probably be gracing fans’ screens again soon.
ThePhineas and Ferbrevival does not have an official release date.
