While this sort of crossroad isn’t unusual for Persona games, there isn’t one singular moment where the surprise villain tips their hand. That will inevitably leave players panicked as they try and figure out who is behind all the trouble in Inaba. Thankfully, players don’t necessarily need to figure all this out for themselves.

Who is the Real Culprit in Persona 4 Golden?

The person behind the killings inPersona 4 Goldenis actually Tohru Adachi. The discovery comes after a series of critical story events and plot twists that shined a new light on the kidnappings of the characters who became party members. Players need to accurately peg Adachi as the killer toget the true ending.

After a certain point, it’s revealed that two separate individuals had been throwing people into televisions. Party members Yukiko, Kanji, Naoto, and Rise were all thrown into the television world by Taro Namatame, a disturbed man who believed that the television world would protect them. His plan goes awry when he kidnaps Nanako, is directly confronted by the heroes and is formally accused of murder.

While Namatame admits he was behind all of their kidnappings, he wasn’t responsible for the deaths of television personality Mayumi Yamano and student Saki Konishi. The heroes then need to figure out who started this tragic series of events and stop them once and for all. It turns out that Tohru Adachi, the assistant to the protagonist’s uncle, who was added as asocial link inPersona 4 Golden, is the real killer.

Were There Hints About Adachi Being the Real Killer?

There were several subtle hints that Adachi is the real killer inPersona 4 Golden. WhilePersona 5had one definitive moment where a traitor slipped up and revealed that they were a villain, that’s not the case here.

The biggest hint was related to the warning letters sent tothe ever-popular main character. It’s specifically noted that they were sent to the player by someone who could approach their house without raising suspicion. The only people who fit this bill are the main character, the party, Nanako, Dojima, Adachi, and Namatame. The events surrounding Nanako’s kidnapping rule out everyone except Adachi.

Adachi also acknowledges how the party members were kidnapped, even in cases when the police weren’t involved.

Persona 4 Goldenis available on PC, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
