The wide variety of heroes inOverwatchprovide plenty of different ways to play the game, but one fan digs up the account of a veteran player who managed to play the game for 800 hours without dealing any damage. The selection of Support characters inOverwatchtend to focus more on providing healing and utility to the team, though each and every hero is outfitted with some form of capable weaponry.
Of course, as a multiplayer hero shooter game,Overwatch 2has just as big a focus on eliminating opponents as its predecessor did. Countless different weapons, abilities, and ultimates allow cohesive teams to wreak havoc on the battlefield in plenty of different ways, and a number ofnew characters added since the launch ofOverwatch 2have only helped make the combat more exciting. The shift to 5-player teams has also put more of an emphasis on damage output in some respects, encouraging teams to coordinate more effectively than before in many ways.

With all that said, it’s safe to say that pacifist players are hard to come by in FPS games, especially in titles such asOverwatch 2. Interestingly enough, one member of theOverwatch 2community named daytonnnnnn on Reddit recently shared a screenshot featuring the stats of a player’sold account back in the originalOverwatch. This Mercy player, known only as QB7, is shown to have nearly 800 hours on record with a grand total of 0 kills and 0 damage dealt. This healing-only strategy seemed to have been somewhat effective though, as the player has cranked out over 40 million healing across thousands of completed matched, 2,825 of which resulted in victory.
The switch from 6v6 combat to 5v5 has had massiveimplications for gameplay since the launch ofOverwatch 2, and many veteran fans remain unhappy with the change. Each team now has only one tank instead of two, which, while putting extra pressure on a team’s tank player, has afforded each tank hero substantial extra health inOverwatch 2. Support players seem to be the ones most impacted by the change though, as the absence of a second “bodyguard” tank tends to leave supports more vulnerable than they used to be.
Overwatch 2offers a plethora of stark changes which sets it apart from its predecessor in many ways, though perhaps not to the extent which would justify its status as a sequel - not in the eyes of many fans, at least. The recentnews regarding the cut PvE content inOverwatch 2has also left many players fearful for the game’s future, as the sophisticated PvE campaign would potentially have been the crown jewel of the game as a whole.
Overwatch 2is available in early access on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
