Overwatch Mercy Actor Throws Shade at Elon Musk and Amber Heard Costume

Mercy was one of the originalOverwatchheroes and remains one of the game’s most recognizable characters. Blizzard has released a dizzying number ofcosmetics for Mercyover the years, including some of the most sought-after skins in the entire game.

Considering Mercy’s popularity with theOverwatchfanbase, it’s really no surprise that many gamers have cosplayed as the character over the years. Even actressAmber Heard has cosplayed as Mercy, allegedly at the request of her then-boyfriend Elon Musk. In response to reports about the Tesla CEO asking Heard to dress up as Mercy, Musk shared an image of the actress in a Mercy costume.

This caught the attention of Lucie Pohl, the voice actress who portrays Mercy inOverwatch. Pohl threw shade at Heard’s Mercy cosplay and Musk’s Tesla company, saying that as the “real Mercy” she could “see the manufacturing defects in this cosplay like it’s a Tesla.”

A Twitter user responded to Pohl’s tweet, challenging her to do a better job at cosplaying as Mercy. Pohl revealed that she has already dressed up as the character before, sharing a short video of herself in the garb of the Legendary-tier Witch skin that is typically made available during theHalloween Terror eventevery year. Mercy’s Witch skin remains one of the character’s most popular skins, though there are many others that fans have praised over the years.

SomeOverwatchfans may be surprised that Musk supposedly asked Heard to dress up as Mercy to begin with, but the billionaire’sOverwatchfandom has never been a secret.Musk has praisedOverwatchon multiple occasionsover the years, calling the hero shooter “soothing” at one point.

Overwatchwas arguably in a much better state back in the days that Musk was hyping it up in interviews.Overwatch 2has been divisive since its early access launch, with many fans not happy about the game’s economy, the erasure of the originalOverwatch, and the switch to a 5v5 format. Others, however, are happy thatOverwatch 2’s more aggressive live service model allows for more frequent content updates, such as the big Invasion update that dropped last month.
