The fourth season ofOverlordis well underway, and with every season there are more surprises for Ainz Ooal Gown as the overall narrativebecomes more and more complex.
Ainz thought he knew everything about the VRMMORPG world of Yggdrasilhe was “isekai’d” into, but it turns out there are new human “NPCs” that show up from time to time, taking him by surprise. And, while none of them can even hope to compare to a tenth of Nazarick’s strength, here are some of the strongest, purely-human characters in theOverlordseries. This of course doesn’t include half-races, Godkin, humans that became vampires, or anything other variation other than just “Human.”
This list includes story spoilers up to season 4 of Overlord.
8Enri Emmot
Enri Emmot is one of the first NPCs Ainz saves, and also one of the first he gives YGGDRASIL items to, and it’s the primary reason she’s made it onto this list. After saving both Enri and her sister from the soldiers attacking her village, Ainz gives Enri two Horns of the Goblin General, as he considers them to be throwaway items.

After the first usage, Enri summons a Goblin Troop that is faithful only to her. This troop includes Goblin Warriors, Shamans, Fighters, Monks, Spearmen, Bowmen, and so on. With this troop alone, Enri is a force to be reckoned with capable of protecting her entire village. But after the Crown Prince, Barbro Andrean Leld Ryle Vaiself, attacks Carne Village, Enri uses the Horn again and surprisingly summons a literal Goblin Army. Now, with 5,000 absurdly powerful Goblins of all Classes and Types at her beck and call, Enri is technically one of the most “powerful” humans alive.
7Climb
Climb is the first of the Re-Estize Kingdom’s three notable Knights. This “group” is comprised of people like Gazef Stronoff, Brain Unglas, and Climb. On the totem pole, however, Climb is the weakest, and for good reason. While both Brain and Gazef are basically prodigies, one from birth and one more self-made, Climb isn’t inherently skilled in anything, and has no “special” talents.
That said, Climb is still among the strongest Knights in the kingdom through sheer force of will and dedication, which is why he’s worthy of being mentioned alongside Gazef. But, aside from his diehard determination to grow and his relentless work ethic, Climb doesn’t have much that puts him in the realm of the “strongest,” which is why he’s this far down.
6Lakyus Alvein Dale Aindra
Laykus Alvein Dale Aindra is another one of those characters with a ridiculously long name that people tend to accidentally forget about when re-watching/re-readingOverlord. It’s not that she’s a bad character, because she’s great, but there are a ton of characters to remember. And Lakyus doesn’t get nearly enough screen time due toOverlord’samazing (but understandably packed) amount of worldbuilding.

Even so, she’s one of the strongest human characters seen on screen so far. She’s powerful enough to handle the Demonic Sword Killneiram. She is also one of the few adventurers able to use Revival Magic, and is both a fantastic frontline and support with her numerous buffing and healing spells. After all, there must be a reason she’s both an Adamantite-ranked Adventurer and leader of the Blue Roses.
5Brain Unglas
Funnily enough, it’s not Gazef Stronoff who is the strongest out of the three knight companions of the Re-Estize kingdom, but Brain. Brain Unglas is one of the rare characters inOverlordwho has the “Genius” modifier applied to their job class, meaning he has literal God-given talent.
In fact, when he lost to Gazef in the Kingdom’s Grand Tournament, it was before he really even started training. So, while Gazef still beats him more often than not, Brain is incredibly close to his level. Those who have read the source material (which is quite long, by the way) know where his story and strength eventually end. But, for where things currently sit, Brain is just barely below Gazef.
4Gazef Stronoff
Finally, it’s the Kingdom’s Strongest Warrior, Gazef Stronoff. Gazef is one of the first New World NPCs Ainz meets after leaving Nazarick for the first time, and the two very quickly bonded with each other. Of course, that makes it all the more painful when they meet again as enemies.
On his own, Gazef is absurdly strong thanks to skills like Sense Weakness, Possibility Sense, and Sixfold Slash of Light. But when wearing the Treasures of the Re-Estize kingdom, Gazef is unparalleled among most humans in the land. That said, the man didn’t even last a second against Ainz, though their fight is a great example ofwhyOverlordstands among the isekai greats.
3Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself
It might seem odd to put the Golden Princess of the Re-Estize Kingdom, who was known to have little to no combat ability, above people like Gazef or Brain, but there’s a reason. For one, Renner is by far the smartest non-Nazarick character to date, as well as one of the most twisted. Secondly, her deception skills are so mighty that two ofthe strongest Floor Guardians,Demiurge and Albedo, took notice of her schemes and respect her for them, even though she’s human.

Finally, she was able to make a deal with Demiurge, betray her own kingdom without anyone finding out, and so much more without anything really going awry. Princess Renner is an absurd character compared to any other human in the series in terms of sheer intelligence. And, the fact that she’s been seen gossiping casually with Albedo about their mutual obsessive love for their men just goes to show how far she’s come. For thosefamiliar with the Light Novel, it’s exciting to see where her story eventually leads in season 4 and beyond.
2Clementine
Those who are up to date with theOverlordanime probably haven’t heard Clementine’s name in a long time.Clementine, the evil masochist of the century, was one of the main “villains"of the first season. She was the one who kidnapped Nfirea, massacred the Swords of Darkness party, and escaped from the Slane Theocracy’s Black Scripture to run rampant.
As Clementine herself says in the anime, there are only five people in the Re-Estisize Kingdom to be wary of (including Gazef) and none of them can beat her. (It was later confirmed by the author of the Light Novel in a QA section that Gazef could beat her using the Re-Estize Kingdom’s Treasures, but then Clementine would also beat him if she had her original Black Scripture Gear.) In any case, this madwoman was by far one of the strongest human characters to date. She just happened to brush upagainst the most powerful creature in existence.
1Fluder Paradyne
Finally, the strongest human character seen in both theOverlordmanga and anime to date (but not the original light novel) is Fluder Paradyne. Fluder is many things, such as the Imperial Court Wizard of the Baharuth Empire, the man who basically raised its current Emperor Jircniv El-Nix, and the only human 6th-tier magic caster in the entire world.
Of course, all of this pales in comparison to just about anyone from Nazarick. Fluder is aware of this, which is why he so readily betrays his kingdom for just an inkling of the magical knowledge Ainz holds. If there’s anything magical that needs to be done, Fluder can likely do it and is really only wary of unparalleled existences like Ainz Ooal Gown and no one else. The fact that the most powerful person in the country doesn’t even amount to an ant on Ainz’s shoe is just another aspect ofOverlord’ssetting that draws people in.
