One Piecechapter 1080 saw the story return from a 2-week break with an incredible information-packed chapter. Oda dove deep into the territory of the Blackbeard Pirates,the Pirate Island of Fullalead, in the New World. There, it was revealed that a few members of the Blackbeard Pirates were in-charge. These included the Captain of the Second Ship,Shiryu of the Rain, the captain of the Fourth Ship, Avalo Pizarro, the Captain of the 7th Ship, San Juan Wolf, and the captain of the 8th Ship, Vasco Shot.

Fans got their first proper look at these characters after the two-year timeskip and, along with their new looks, Oda also displayed their new Devil Fruit powers, which were nothing short of staggering to see. Vasco Shot, the 8th Ship Captain of the Blackbeard Pirates, was revealed to be a user of the Gabu Gabu no Mi, and this Devil Fruit seems to be very intriguing.
Who Is Vasco Shot?
Vasco Shot was introduced to the fans before the 2-year timeskip. He was mentioned for the very first time in the Impel Down arc where it was revealed that level six of the prison holds the legendary criminals of theOne Pieceworld whose existence itself is better erased from history. The fact that Vasco shot was one of these prisoners means that he was an incredibly fearsome criminal who remains dangerous to this day. It is unknown for how long he was imprisoned in Impel Down, however, he ended up breaking free after Blackbeard raided the prison. Once that happened, Vasco Shot was one of the contenders in the level 6 battle royale, which was free for all.
Blackbeard ended up recruiting him as a member of the crew, which means that even among the other powerful pirates, Shot was in a league of his own. Ever since then, he has become one of the closest confidants of the pirate Blackbeard. In the two-year timeskip, their crew went on to establish themselves as a part of the Four Emperors. Vasco Shot, in the meantime, becameone of the 10 Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates, who are primarily responsible for guarding Admiral Blackbeard himself. Currently, he is the captain of the 8th Ship of the crew and holds tremendous authority.
The Gabu Gabu no Mi
Shortly after the two-year timeskip, it was revealed to the fans that Blackbeard had now ascended to the throne of Emperor and that he has been increasing his territory in the New World at a ferocious rate. More importantly, it was also revealed that the Blackbeard Pirates were now hunting for powerful Devil Fruits. During the Paramount War, Blackbeard was seen being ableto steal the Devil Fruitof the Yonko Whitebeard. As such, it was immediately established that the crew has surefire ways of stealing Devil Fruit powers. During the 2-year timeskip and even after that time period, this crew continued to hunt for powerful Devil Fruits and, eventually, Vasco Shot, the 8th Titanic Captain, also ended up receiving a Devil Fruit.

InOne Piecechapter 1080, it was revealed to the fans that Vasco Shot has the powers of a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit known as the Gabu Gabu no MiThis Devil Fruit being a Parameciameans that it allows the user to produce something from their bodies. While he has not been seen making use of this fruit at the moment, it can be safely established that powers have to do with alcohol. InOne Piecechapter 1080, Vasco Shot mentioned that he could set the town on fire. Putting two and two together would tell the fans that Vasco Shot can possibly produce alcohol from his body and then set it ablaze to beat his enemies.
How Strong Is Vasco Shot?
Being a part of the Ten Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates, it goes without saying that Vasco Shot is an extremely powerful pirate. Furthermore, he also has a history of being a terrible criminal which further increases his infamy in theOne Pieceworld. Trafalgar Law, one of the members of the Worst Generation, recently stated that the bounties of the Blackbeard Pirates are rising abruptly and this also includes Vasco Shot. It can be easily established that his bounty is among the 100 millions, possibly above the 500 million berri mark. In terms of combat, very little is known about him so far, however, he was able to take a quake from Whitebeard and survive it, suggesting great endurance.
At the same time, he also took a direct hit from a shockwave produced by Sengoku, once again alluding to the fact that he has great endurance. However, while all these feats are certainly good, he was defeated by Hancock recently on Amazon Lily, thanks to her Devil Fruit powers. Hancock managed to beat him as well as Devon without breaking a sweat and if that is anything to go by, Vasco Shot still has ways to go. He will surely gain even more power moving forward and by the time the Straw Hat Pirates face the Blackbeard Pirates, Vasco Shot will certain ly be a force to be reckoned with, capable of contending with one of Luffy’s Nine Great Officers.
