The Five Elders have played a major role in the story from the very beginning and are still relevant when it comes to the overarching plot of the story. While Oda kept them under wraps for the vast majority of the story, now thatOne Pieceis in its final saga, it is time for them to make them move.

Recently, fans were introduced to Jaygarcia Saturn as he made his way to Egghead Island, the place where the current arc ofOne Pieceis taking place. As Saturn makes his way into the story, it is time for the fans to grasp some very important bits of information about him.
8The Highest Authority
Saint Jaygarcia Saturn is one of the highest authoritiesin the World Governmentand the entire world ofOne Piece.Looking at the hierarchy within the World Government, Saturn is the highest authority that the people in the world ofOne Pieceknow of.
He shares this position with the other members of the Five Elders and, as such, is an extremely important person. He possesses incredible influence and, technically, the entirety of the World Government falls under him. Everything, including the Navy and the Cipher Pol are his pawns to use as he likes.
7Direct Servant of Imu
While the world ofOne Piecesees Siant Jaygarcia Saturn and, by extension, the other members of the Gorosei as the highest authority, that is far from the truth. The actual highest authority in the world ofOne Pieceis none other thanImu, the sovereign of the entire world.
Imu sits the Empty Throne and the Five Elders are direct servants to them. It appears that the Five Elders do what they do in order to bring Imu’s vision to life. Whatever Imu desires from them, they will have to do as they are loyal subjects to them.
6Can Manipulate Information
Saint Jaygarcia Saturn has the highest known ranking authority in the World Government and also the entire world of One Piece. As such, it is not a surprise to know that he has the power to manipulate information. Things such as hiding the true names of people, such as the D in Roger’s name, can easily be pulled off by him.
He can also manipulate information in other ways, such as framing Sabo for the murder of King Cobra, which is far from the truth, as fans know already. Saint Jaygarcia Saturn’s influence goes far and beyond and he is certainly one of the most dangerous people in theOne Pieceworld.
5Outranks The Admirals
Fans know theAdmirals to be the strongest military assetof the World Government inOne Piece. As such, the Admirals have incredible authority and power and are to be feared. However, when compared to the Five Elders, such as Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, the Admirals simply don’t match up. This has been seen on several occasions, such as when Kizaru tagged along with Saturn on the way to Egghead and, there, it was revealed that the Admiral was extremely anxious and scared being in his presence.

At the same time, even when Akainu was angry with the Gorosei, they immediately put him in his place. It must be remembered that though Akainu is very loudmouthed, even he spoke to the Gorosei with respect.
4Likely A Fighter
One of the biggest questions that fans have regarding Saint Jaygarcia Saturn and the other members of the Five Elders is if they’re fighters or not. While fans have not seen them in combat just yet, it can be assumed that they are capable fighters for several reasons. The first reason is the fact that one of the Gorosei wields what could be one of the 12 Supreme Grade Swords in One Piece, Shodai Kitetsu. This sword is known to be extremely powerful and only those who are worthy of it can wield it.
At the same time, the Gorosei were not afraid of holding a meeting with Shanks with no protection around them. This suggests that they can fend off a Yonko, if the need arises. Finally, Jayharcia Saturn has a scar that runs along his face, which suggests that he has been in combat in the past and, as such, possesses combat abilities.
3Killed Professor Clover
Saturn was directly responsible for the death of Clover and, subsequently, the eradication of Ohara, 22 years ago in the One Piece storyline. When Clover was found to be researching Poneglyphs, Saturn and the other members of the Gorosei decided to get rid of him and ordered the CP9 to shoot him.
What’s more, they also decided that Ohara should be completely wiped out. Being the highest authority, it is no surprise that Saturn and the other members of the Five Elders can easily invoke Buster Calls at will. Even stronger military proceedings can be convened by them.
2Named After A Planet
Jaygarcia Saturn is named after the sixth planet in the solar system. Curiously, the term “Gorosei” can literally translate to Five Elder Stars or Five Elder Planets. Given that Saturn is named after the sixth planet, it can be assumed that the other members of the Gorosei are named after planets as well. It is entirely possible for the other Gorosei to be named Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. Earth could be Imu, the highest authority in existence.
Curiously, the planets that immediately follow Saturn, namely Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, are the planets that the Ancient Weapons in the one piece world are named after. At the same time, the sun that all the planets follow could be a reference to Luffy being the Sun God Nika.
1Inspiration
It is no secret that Oda often derives inspiration for his characters from real-world personalities. When it comes to Jaygarcia Saturn, Oda might have based his name on Jerry Garcia from Grateful Dead, a popular band, as he looks quite similar to how Saturn fromOne Pieceis drawn.
At the same time, his appearance might also be inspired by Giuseppe Garibaldi, who’s known to be one of Italy’s fathers of the fatherland. The two look starkly similar from their facial hair to their face structure and even their clothing, as well as walking canes.
