The Celestial Dragons are among the most influential characters inOne Piece. They are the descendants of the twenty kings who formed the World Government centuries prior to the beginning of the story. Following their victory, the rulers opted to remain in Marijoa and came to be known asthe Celestial Dragons. The records of their existence were erased, and their countries elected new royal families to lead them.
The Celestial Dragons have plenty of prerogatives that set them apart from the otherOne Piececharacters. They can commit the most heinous crimes and still not be punished for them. They treat other people as inferiors and often try to turn them into slaves. Due to their privileges, most of the Celestial Dragons are spoiled and entitled. Even the kings and queens of other nations have to comply with their demands. So, it is very rare to find a Celestial Dragon with a sensible mind. The only active Celestial Dragon who fit the mold was Donquixote Mjosgard.

The Onset Of Change
Donquixote Mjosgard was not always a kind and well-mannered individual. In fact, he used to be like any other Celestial Dragon and would often hurl insults at peopleof other races. Mjosgard underwent a drastic change when he ended up on Fish-Man Island. Being a Celestial Dragon, Mjosgard insulted the denizens of the island, and they did not take kindly to his words. They began to attack him, and things could have gone south really quickly had Queen Otohime not intervened.
She placed her body on the line to save Mjosgard from being lynched. Even though many people on Fish-Man Island opposed her choice, she did not falter. Otohime’s actions made the Celestial Dragon realize his mistakes. Her impact was positive, and he never forgot her compassion. This was evident in the Reverie arc.
Repaying Kindness
Among all the royal familiesgathering in Marijoa, the entourage from Fish-Man Island stood out the most, mainly because they were not humans. While most people did not interact with them or pay them any attention, Charlos was immediately drawn toward Shirahoshi. The young mermaid princess was unlike anything that he had ever seen, so he decided that he wanted to turn her into a slave. One might think that Charlos would at least try to hold off the enslavement until the Reverie was finished. However, he was too eager and could not wait for long. King Neptune and his sons were furious after seeing Charlos' behavior. But they knew hitting him would result in the destruction of Otohime’s dream and Fish-Man Island becoming a target.

Thankfully, Shirahoshi was saved by Donquixote Mjosgard. He saw what Charlos was up to and immediately hit him with a club. Since he was a Celestial Dragon as well, no one could intervene. Neptune thanked Mjosgard and Shirahoshi was free to see Marijoa. Unfortunately, Charlos was not one to give up so easily. He had made up his mind and would not stop until he got what he wanted. The next time, Charlos attacked Shirahoshi with the help of Bartholomew Kuma.
The former Shichibukaihad become a mindless slave, and he obeyed Charlos' commands. With his impressive physique, Kuma was able to put Shirahoshi in chains rather effortlessly. Once again, Mjosgard arrived on the scene and gave Sai permission to strike Charlos. Kuma tried to attack the culprits, but he was stopped in his tracks by Morley. Roswald witnessed the event unfold before his eyes, and he was very unhappy. Mjosgard decided to take the blame for the attack; naturally, it didn’t go down well with his fellow Celestial Dragons.
The Execution
After the conclusion of the Reverie, a big incident involving Donquixote Mjosgard took place in Marijoa. It was revealed that St. Figarland Garling, the supreme commander of the Holy Knights, had executed Mjosgard for defending the people of Fish-Man Island. Mjosgard was tied up to the symbol of the World Government and then killed. Myosgard’s death will serve as a reminder to all the Celestial Dragons of what happens if they turn against each other or bring harm to one of their own. What makes his death even sadder is the fact that Charlos didn’t even die from the combined attack. It was confirmed by Kizaru that it was an attempted murder, so Charlos lives to see another day while Myosgard lies.
Mjosgard was a brave man till the end, but the world will never know how he was brutally murdered. His death also raises the question of how the Holy Knights have so much authority. A normal person would have been executed for talking back to a Celestial Dragon. Being allowed to kill one is nothing short of extraordinary. It will also be interesting to see the relationshipbetween Donquixote Doflamingoand Mysogard. The two belonged to the same family, but whether they were on speaking terms remains to be seen. Doflamingo is still locked inside Impel Down, and there is no possible way for him to know. If he does find out, will he take some kind of action or just run away? The answer to this question and many others will be revealed in due time.
