TheWarioWareseries is one of Nintendo’s most bizarre franchises, focusing on bite-sized mini-games called microgames. These microgames can be completed in just a few seconds at the most and feature some wacky scenarios, like the player having to stick a finger in a nose or steal garlic from an unsuspecting garlic lover. One of the more iconic types of mini-games seen throughout the series comes from a character named 9-Volt –he’sa Nintendo fanhimself, and his microgames cover all sorts of Nintendo franchises, fromZeldaandMetroidtoMarioandIce Climber.
InWarioWare: Get it Together, the latest in the series coming to theSwitchlater this year, 9-Volt is making a return, and there have already been some confirmed Nintendo crossovers. During E3 2021, the Nintendo Treehouse: Live event unveiled several of these Nintendo-themed microgames, and here’s a list of all of them so far.

Luigi’s Mansion
The first microgame played in 9-Volt’s stage inWarioWare: Get it Togetherduring the presentation was themed around Luigi’s standalone adventure series,Luigi’s Mansion. The microgame requires players to simply find a ghost in a matter of seconds by interacting with items around the room.
There’s a ghost moving from object to object, and by touching the object that the ghost is inside of, the mini-game will be completed. It’s interesting to note that this microgame’s ghost is an enemy from the firstLuigi’s Mansiongame for the GameCube and not the most recent entry,Luigi’s Mansion 3.
Animal Crossing
The next confirmedmini-game forWarioWare: Get it Togethertakes inspiration fromAnimal Crossing, and it’s another fairly simple one. Players will need to break the balloons holding a gift box when it gets closer to one of the game’s villagers. If players pop the balloons too early, it seems that the gift will drop into a chasm, and the game will count it as a failure, causing players to lose one of their lives.
Considering how massivelysuccessfulAnimal Crossing: New Horizons' launchon the Switch was, it makes sense to include at least one type of microgame from the life-sim game.
Ice Climber
Besides the two leading characters appearing in theSuper Smash Bros. series,Ice Climber, as a franchise, has been dormant for a very long time. However, Nintendo is bringing the classic slippery platformer toWarioWare: Get it Togetherin the form of a quirky microgame.
Players will need to grab onto a glowing circle that pulls them up to the top of the stage, and thankfully, they won’t need to grab ahold of the flying Pterodactyl, as Popo and Nana have to do in the actualIce Climbergame on NES.
Super Mario Land
2DMariogames tend to have some sort of appearance inWarioWaregames, and this time around, there seems to be an homage towardsSuper Mario Land, a Game Boy title from 1989. Players will need to hit the question block to get some coins for the microgame to be completed.
Other Nintendo Crossovers
Although there has been no gameplay shown for these specific microgames just yet inWarioWare: Get it Together, some other franchise crossovers have been confirmed. There’s a tea-party microgame featuring Claude fromFire Emblem: Three Houses, one based onSplatoon 2, another featuringSuper Metroid, and another from the originalSuper Mario Bros.
WarioWare: Get It Togetheris still a few months away from launching, but there are bound to be even more microgames revealed, either through trailers or possibly anotherNintendo Direct in the fall.
WarioWare: Get it Togetherwill launch on September 10th for the Nintendo Switch as an exclusive title.
