The first run begins at 0:00 UTC, on Friday, March 17, and concludes at 23:59 UTC on Sunday, March 19. Trainers will then have a second chance to catch Decidueye on the following weekend, starting at 0:00 UTC on Friday, March 24, and ending at 23:59 UTC on Sunday, March 26. Originally appearing inPokemon Sun and Moonfor the Nintendo 3DS, Decidueye is the final evolution of Rowlet, the Grass-type starter of the Alola region. Itlast appeared as a Hisuian variantinPokemon Legends: Arceus. However, the original Alolan version will be the boss that players must prepare for in the upcoming raid battle.
When it comes to battle tactics against Decidueye the Unrivaled, the Arrow Quill Pokemon is normally a Grass and Ghost dual-type and a mixed attacker. Decidueye’s repertoire includes Grass and Ghost moves such as Leaf Blade and itssignature move Spirit Shackle. It also has access to Flying-type moves such as Aerial Ace, Hurricane, and Brave Bird. As was the case with Cinderace and Greninja, Decidueye the Unrivaled will likely have the hidden ability Long Reach, which negates any harmful effect it would have suffered by using moves that make physical contact. While the exact move pool will remain unknown until the raid goes live inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, Magnezone’s Electric and Steel dual-type serves as a natural defense against Decidueye’s Grass and Flying attacks. Other strong Electric-type Pokemon such as Miraidon and Iron Hands may see some use as well, but Iron Hands will have to watch out for Flying-type attacks.
In the meantime,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers will have until Sunday, March 12 to face Walking Wake and Iron Leaves, thenew Paradox Legendary Pokemonavailable in five-star raid battles. While it is not known at the time of writing if or when these Pokemon will return,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers will have plenty of challenges to keep them busy this month.
