Tales from the Borderlandswas a popular title amongBorderlandsfans throughout its episodic release in 2014 and 2015. The Telltale Games-developed adventure title was praised for its story and characters, receiving multiple accolades. Despite the franchise’s uncertainty following Telltale’s unexpected closure in 2018,2K was able to re-acquire the licenselast year, later confirming there was more to come for the adventure spin-off. Now, theBorderlandsadventure game is set to make an appearance during this year’s Gamescom.
Geoff Keighley teased the appearance ofNew Tales from the BorderlandsMonday afternoon with a cryptic image uploaded to his Twitter. The tweet alluded to something coming tomorrow during Gamescom with theBorderlandsofficial Twitter account tagged, hinting at the franchise’s appearance during the convention.New Tales from the Borderlandshas already seen numerous leaks throughout recent weeks with its story details and its ESRB rating revealed. Gearbox had also previously alluded to a major announcement coming for the sequel during the summer.

The return ofTales from the Borderlandswill be the first major new entry in theBorderlandsspin-off in nearly a decade. The originalTales from the Borderlandsconcluded its five-episode run with “The Vault of the Traveler” in October 2015.Tales from the Borderlandsdid receive a port to the Nintendo Switch in March of last year, shortly after 2K re-launched the game. TheTales from the Borderlandssequelalso previously saw both its box art and release date leak online, with the game reportedly set to launch on October 21.
Gearbox and 2K’s revival ofTales from the Borderlandscould potentially mark a major departure from the original game. The reveal ofNew Tales from the Borderlandscame with the confirmation that Telltale Games would not be working on the new game, with Gearbox instead heading development on the spin-off. Previous leaks related to the game’s story also suggest theTales from the Borderlandssequel will be shifting its focus to a new cast of characters, instead of thefirst game’s pair of Rhys and Fiona.
